Gospel of 26 March 2020 with comment

From the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to John 5,31: 47-XNUMX.
At that time, Jesus said to the Jews: "If I were to bear witness to myself, my testimony would not be true;
but there is another who bears witness to me, and I know that the testimony he bears to me is true.
You sent messengers from John and he testified to the truth.
I do not receive testimony from a man; but I tell you these things so that you can save yourself.
He was a lamp that burns and shines, and you only wanted for a moment to rejoice in his light.
However, I have a testimony superior to that of John: the works that the Father has given me to do, those same works that I am doing, testify to me that the Father has sent me.
And also the Father, who sent me, testified of me. But you never heard his voice, nor did you see his face,
and you do not have his word that dwells in you, because you do not believe the one whom he sent.
You scrutinize the scriptures believing you have eternal life in them; well, it is they who bear witness to me.
But you don't want to come to me to have life.
I don't get glory from men.
But I know you and I know that you don't have God's love in you.
I have come in the name of my Father and you do not receive me; if another came in their name, you would receive it.
And how can you believe, you who take glory from one another, and do not seek the glory that comes from God alone?
Do not believe that it is I who accuse you before the Father; there are already those who accuse you, Moses, in whom you have placed your hope.
For if you believed Moses, you would believe me too; because he wrote about me.
But if you don't believe his writings, how can you believe my words? ».

Discourses on Genesis, 2
«If you believed in Moses, you would believe in me too; because he wrote about me "
In ancient times, the Lord who created man spoke first to man, in such a way that he could hear him. So he conversed with Adam (...), as he then conversed with Noah and Abraham. And even when mankind had plunged into the abyss of sin, God did not break all relationships, even if they were necessarily less familiar, because the men had made themselves unworthy of it. He therefore allowed to re-establish benevolent relationships with them, though with letters, as if to entertain themselves with an absent friend; in this way he could, in his goodness, bind again all mankind to himself; Moses is the bearer of these letters that God sends us.

Let's open these letters; what are the first words? "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." Wonderful! (...) Moses who was born many centuries later, was truly inspired from above to tell us about the wonders that God has done to the creation of the world. (...) Does he not seem to be saying clearly: "Are men the ones who taught me what I am about to reveal to you? Absolutely not, but only the Creator, who worked these wonders. He guides my language so that I teach you. Since then, please, silence all complaints of human reasoning. Do not listen to this story as if it were the word of Moses alone; God himself speaks to you; Moses is only his interpreter ». (...)

Brothers, therefore, let us welcome the Word of God with a grateful and humble heart. (...) God in fact created everything, and prepares all things and arranges them with wisdom. (...) He leads man with what is visible, to make him come to the knowledge of the Creator of the universe. (...) He teaches man to contemplate the supreme Builder in his works, so that he knows how to worship his Creator.
