Gospel of 30 September 2018

Book of Numbers 11,25-29.
In those days, the Lord descended into the cloud and spoke to Moses: he took the spirit that was upon him and infused it on the seventy elders: when the spirit had settled on them, they prophesied, but they did not do it later.
Meanwhile, two men, one called Eldad and the other Medad, remained in the camp and the spirit settled on them; they were among the members but had not gone out to go to the tent; they began to prophesy in the camp.
A young man ran to report the matter to Moses and said, "Eldad and Medad prophesy in the camp."
Then Joshua, son of Nun, who had been at the service of Moses since his youth, said, "Moses, my lord, forbid them!"
But Moses replied: “Are you jealous for me? They were all prophets in the people of the Lord and wanted the Lord to give them his spirit! ".

Psalms 19 (18), 8.10.12-13.14.
The law of the Lord is perfect,
refreshes the soul;
the testimony of the Lord is true,
it makes the simple wise.

The fear of the Lord is pure, it always lasts;
the judgments of the Lord are all faithful and just
more precious than gold.
Your servant is also taught in them,

for those who observe them the profit is great.
Who discerns the inadvertences?
Relieve me of the faults I don't see.
Even from pride save your servant
because it has no power over me;
then I will be irreproachable,

I will be pure from the great sin.

Letter of Saint James 5,1-6.
Now to you, rich people: cry and cry out for the misfortunes that lie above you!
Your riches are rotten,
your robes have been devoured by moths; your gold and your silver are consumed by rust, their rust will testify against you and devour your flesh like a fire. You have accumulated treasures for the past few days!
Behold, the wages you have defrauded of the workers who reaped your lands cry out; and the protests of the reapers reached the ears of the Lord of hosts.
You reveled on earth and satiated yourself with pleasures, you put on weight for the day of the massacre.
You have condemned and killed the righteous one and he cannot resist.

From the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Mark 9,38-43.45.47-48.
At that time, John said to Jesus, "Master, we saw one who cast out demons in your name and we forbade him, because he was not one of ours."
But Jesus said: «Do not forbid him, because there is nobody who does a miracle in my name and immediately afterwards can speak ill of me.
Who is not against us is for us.
Whoever gives you a glass of water to drink in my name because you belong to Christ, I tell you the truth, he will not lose his reward.
Whoever offends one of these little ones who believe, it is better for him to put a donkey mill on his neck and be thrown into the sea.
If your hand offends you, cut it: it is better for you to enter into one-handed life than with two hands to go into Gehenna, into the unquenchable fire.
If your foot offends you, cut it off: it is better for you to enter lame life than to be thrown with two feet into Gehenna.
If your eye offends you, take it away: it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to be thrown with two eyes into Gehenna, where their worm does not die and the fire does not extinguish ».
