Gospel of 5 September 2018

First letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians 3,1-9.
Brothers, so far I have not been able to speak to you as spiritual men, but as carnal beings, as babies in Christ.
I gave you milk to drink, not solid food, because you weren't capable of it. And even now you are not;
because you are still carnal: since there is envy and discord between you, are you not carnal and do you not behave in a completely human way?
When one says: "I am of Paul", and another: "I am of Apollo", do you not simply show yourself men?
But what is Apollo ever? What is Paolo? Ministers through whom you have come to the faith and each according to which the Lord has granted him.
I planted, Apollo irrigated, but it is God who made us grow.
Now neither the one who plants nor the one who is angry is anything but God who makes us grow.
There is no difference between those who plant and those who irritate, but each one will receive his reward according to his own work.
We are in fact collaborators of God, and you are the field of God, the building of God.

Salmi 33(32),12-13.14-15.20-21.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
the people who have chosen themselves as heirs.
The Lord looks from heaven,
he sees all men.

From the place of his home
scrutinize all the inhabitants of the earth,
him who, alone, has shaped their heart
and includes all their works.

Our soul awaits the Lord,
he is our help and our shield.
Our heart rejoices in him
and trust in his holy name.

From the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke 4,38-44.
At that time, Jesus came out of the synagogue and entered Simon's house. Simone's mother-in-law was in the grip of a great fever and they prayed for him.
Bending over her, he summoned the fever, and the fever left her. Immediately rising, the woman began to serve them.
At sunset, all those who had sick people affected by all kinds of ills led them to him. And he, laying his hands on each, healed them.
Demons came out of many shouting: "You are the Son of God!" But he threatened them and did not let them speak, because they knew it was the Christ.
At daybreak he went out and went to a deserted place. But the crowds were looking for him, they joined him and they wanted to keep him so he wouldn't go away from them.
But he said: "I must also announce the kingdom of God to the other cities; that's why I was sent. "
And he was preaching in the synagogues of Judea.
