Gospel of 7 June 2018

Thursday of the XNUMXth week of holidays in Ordinary Time

Second letter of Saint Paul the apostle to Timothy 2,8-15.
Dearest, remember that Jesus Christ, of the lineage of David, rose from the dead according to my gospel,
because of which I suffer to the point of wearing the chains like a criminal; but the word of God is not chained!
Therefore I endure all things for the elect, so that they too may attain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, along with eternal glory.
This word is certain: If we die with him, we will also live with him;
if we persevere with him, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he too will deny us;
if we lack faith, he remains faithful, because he cannot deny himself.
It recalls these things to mind, begging them before God to avoid vain discussions, which are of no use, if not to the perdition of those who listen to them.
Make an effort to present yourself before God as a man worthy of approval, a worker who has nothing to be ashamed of, a scrupulous dispenser of the word of truth.

Salmi 25(24),4bc-5ab.8-9.10.14.
Lord, make your ways known;
teach me your paths.
Guide me in your truth and teach me,
because you are the God of my salvation.

The Lord is good and upright,
the right way points to sinners;
guide the humble according to justice,
teaches the poor its ways.

All the paths of the Lord are truth and grace
for those who observe his covenant and precepts.
The Lord reveals himself to those who fear him,
he makes known his covenant.

From the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Mark 12,28-34.
At that time, one of the scribes approached Jesus and asked him, "What is the first of all the commandments?"
Jesus replied: «The first is: Listen, Israel. The Lord our God is the only Lord;
therefore you will love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your mind and with all your strength.
And the second is this: You will love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment more important than these. "
Then the scribe said to him: «You have said well, Master, and according to the truth that He is unique and there is none other than him;
love him with all your heart, with your whole mind and with all your strength and love your neighbor as yourself is worth more than all the burnt offerings and sacrifices ».
Seeing that he had answered wisely, he said to him: "You are not far from the kingdom of God." And nobody had the courage to question him anymore.
