Gospel of 9 March 2019

Book of Isaiah 58,9b-14.
Thus says the Lord: "If you remove oppression from your midst, point the finger and speak wickedly,
if you offer bread to the hungry, if you satisfy those who are fasting, then your light will shine in the darkness, your darkness will be like noon.
The Lord will always guide you, he will satisfy you in arid soils, he will reinvigorate your bones; you will be like an irrigated garden and a spring whose waters do not dry up.
Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins, you will rebuild the foundations of distant times. They will call you breccia repairman, restorer of ruined houses to live in.
If you keep your foot from violating the Sabbath, from doing business on the day sacred to me, if you call the Sabbath delight and venerating the holy day to the Lord, if you honor it by avoiding to set off, to do business and to bargain,
then you will find delight in the Lord. I will make you tread the heights of the earth, I will make you taste the inheritance of Jacob your father, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.

Salmi 86(85),1-2.3-4.5-6.
Lord, listen, answer me,
because I am poor and unhappy.
Guard me because I am faithful;
you, my God, save your servant, who hopes in you.

Have mercy on me, Lord,
I cry to you all day.
Rejoice the life of your servant,
because to you, Lord, I lift up my soul.

You are good, Lord, and forgive,
you are full of mercy with those who invoke you.
Give ear, Lord, to my prayer
and pay attention to the voice of my plea.

From the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke 5,27-32.
At that time, Jesus saw a tax collector named Levi sitting at the tax office, and said to him, "Follow me!"
He, leaving everything, got up and followed him.
Then Levi prepared a large banquet for him in his home. There was a crowd of tax collectors and other people sitting with them at the table.
The Pharisees and their scribes murmured and said to his disciples, "Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?"
Jesus replied: «It is not the healthy who need the doctor, but the sick;
I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to convert. "
