Gospel of January 11, 2021 with the comment of Pope Francis

READING OF THE DAY
From the letter to the Jews
Heb 1,1-6

God, who many times and in various ways in ancient times had spoken to the fathers through the prophets, lately, in these days, has spoken to us through the Son, who made heir of all things and by whom he made even the world.

He is the irradiation of his glory and the imprint of his substance, and he supports everything with his powerful word. Having accomplished the purification of sins, he sat down at the right hand of the majesty in the heights of heaven, who became as superior to the angels as the name he inherited is more excellent than theirs.

In fact, to which of the angels did God ever say:
"You are my son, today I have generated you"?
and again:
«I will be his father
and he will be my son "?
When he introduces the firstborn into the world, he says:
"All the angels of God adore him."

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to Mark
Mc 1,14-20

After John was arrested, Jesus went to Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, and said: “The time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is near; get converted and believe in the Gospel ».

Passing along the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew, Simon's brother, throwing their nets into the sea; they were in fact fishermen. Jesus said to them, "Follow me, I will make you fishers of men." And immediately they left their nets and followed him.

Going a little further, he saw James, son of Zebedee, and John his brother, while they too were mending the nets in the boat. Immediately he called them. And they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and went after him.

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
Always the Lord when he comes into our life, when he passes into our heart, he tells you a word, he tells us a word and also this promise: 'Go ahead ... courage, do not fear, because you will do this!'. It is an invitation to mission, an invitation to follow him. And when we feel this second moment, we see that there is something in our life that is wrong, that we must correct and we leave it, with generosity. Or even there is something good in our life, but the Lord inspires us to leave it, to follow him more closely, as happened here: these have left everything, says the Gospel. 'And pulled the boats ashore, they left everything: boats, nets, everything! And they followed him '(Santa Marta, 5 September 2013)
