Gospel of February 13, 2021 with the comment of Pope Francis

READING OF THE DAY From the book of Genesis Gen 3,9: 24-XNUMX The Lord God called man and said to him: "Where are you?". He replied, "I heard your voice in the garden: I was afraid, because I am naked, and I hid myself." He went on: "Who let you know that you are naked? Did you eat from the tree I commanded you not to eat from? The man replied, "The woman you set beside me gave me some tree and I ate it." The Lord God said to the woman, "What have you done?" The woman answered, "The snake deceived me and I ate."
Then the Lord God said to the serpent:
"Since you have done this,
damn you among all the cattle
and of all wild animals!
You will walk on your belly
and dust you will eat
for all the days of your life.
I will put enmity between you and the woman,
between your offspring and his offspring:
this will crush your head
and you will undermine her heel ».
To the woman he said:
«I will multiply your pains
and your pregnancies,
with pain you will give birth to children.
Your instinct will be towards your husband,
and he will dominate you ».
To the man he said, “Because you have listened to your wife's voice
and you ate from the tree that I commanded you to "not eat",
cursed the ground for your sake!
With pain you will draw food from it
for all the days of your life.
Thorns and thistles will produce for you
and you will eat the grass of the fields.
With the sweat of your face you will eat bread,
until you return to the earth,
because from it you were taken:
dust you are and to dust you will return! ».
The man named his wife Eve, because she was the mother of all living.
The Lord God made tunics of skins for the man and his wife and clothed them.
Then the Lord God said, “Behold, man has become like one of us in the knowledge of good and evil. May he not stretch out his hand and take the tree of life as well, eat it and live forever! ».
The Lord God drove him out of the garden of Eden to till the soil from which he was taken. He drove the man away and placed cherubs and the flame of the flickering sword in the east of the garden of Eden, to guard the way to the tree of life.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY From the Gospel according to Mark Mk 8,1: 10-XNUMX In those days, since there was again a large crowd and they had nothing to eat, Jesus called the disciples to himself and said to them: «I feel compassion for the crowd; They have been with me for three days now and have nothing to eat. If I send them back to their homes fast, they will fade along the way; and some of them have come from afar ». His disciples answered him, "How can we manage to feed them with bread here, in a desert?" He asked them, "How many loaves do you have?" They said, "Seven."
He ordered the crowd to sit on the ground. He took the seven loaves, gave thanks, broke them and gave them to his disciples to distribute; and they distributed them to the crowd. They also had a few small fish; he recited the blessing on them and had them distributed as well.
They ate their fill and took away the leftover pieces: seven baskets. There were about four thousand. And he sent them away.
Then he got into the boat with his disciples and immediately went to the parts of Dalmanuta.

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
“In temptation there is no dialogue, we pray: 'Help, Lord, I am weak. I don't want to hide from you. ' This is courage, this is winning. When you start talking you will end up won, defeated. May the Lord give us grace and accompany us in this courage and if we are deceived by our weakness in temptation, give us the courage to stand up and move forward. For this Jesus came, for this ”.
