Gospel of January 15, 2021 with the comment of Pope Francis

READING OF THE DAY
From the letter to the Jews
Heb 4,1-5.11

Brothers, we should be afraid that, while the promise to enter his rest still remains in force, some of you will be judged excluded. For we too, like them, have received the Gospel: but the word they heard did not help them at all, because they did not remain united with those who had heard in faith. For we, who have believed, enter that rest, as he said: "Thus I have sworn in my anger: they will not enter into my rest!" This, although his works had been accomplished from the foundation of the world. In fact, it says in a passage of Scripture about the seventh day: "And on the seventh day God rested from all his works". And again in this passage: «They will not enter into my rest!». So let us hurry to enter that rest, so that no one falls into the same type of disobedience.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to Mark
Mc 2,1-12

Jesus entered Capernaum again after a few days. It was known that he was at home and so many people gathered that there was no longer room even in front of the door; and he preached the Word to them. They came to him carrying a paralytic, supported by four people. But not being able to bring him in front of him, because of the crowd, they uncovered the roof where he was and, having made an opening, lowered the stretcher on which the paralytic was lying. Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic: «Son, your sins are forgiven». Some scribes were sitting there and they thought in their hearts: "Why does this man speak like this?" Blasphemy! Who can forgive sins, if not God alone? ». And immediately Jesus, knowing in his spirit that they thought so to themselves, said to them: «Why do you think these things in your heart? What is easier: to say to the paralytic "Your sins are forgiven", or to say "Get up, take your stretcher and walk"? Now, so that you may know that the Son of man has the power to forgive sins on earth, I say to you - he said to the paralytic -: get up, take your stretcher and go to your house ». He got up and immediately took his stretcher, walked away before everyone's eyes, and everyone was amazed and praised God, saying: "We have never seen anything like it!"

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
Praise. The proof that I believe that Jesus Christ is God in my life, that he was sent to me to 'forgive me', is praise: if I have the ability to praise God. Praise the Lord. This is free. Praise is free. It is a feeling that the Holy Spirit gives and leads you to say: 'You are the only God' (Santa Marta, 15 January 2016)
