READING OF THE DAY
First Reading

From the first book of Samuèle
1Sam 3,3b-10.19

In those days, Samuèle slept in the temple of the Lord, where the ark of God was. Then the Lord called: "Samuèle!" and he answered, "Here I am," then ran to Eli and said, "You called me, here I am!" He replied: "I didn't call you, go back to sleep!" He came back and went to sleep. But the Lord called again: "Samuèle!"; Samuèle got up and ran to Eli saying: "You called me, here I am!" But he replied again: "I didn't call you, my son, go back to sleep!" Actually Samuèle had not yet known the Lord, nor had the word of the Lord been revealed to him yet. The Lord called again: "Samuèle!" For the third time; he got up again and ran to Eli saying: "You called me, here I am!" Then Eli understood that the Lord was calling the young man. Eli said to Samuèle: "Go to sleep and, if he calls you, you will say: 'Speak, Lord, because your servant is listening to you'". Samuèle went to sleep in her place. The Lord came, stood beside him and called him as the other times: "Samuéle, Samuéle!" Samuele immediately replied, "Speak, because your servant listens to you." Samuele grew up and the Lord was with him, nor did he let one of his words go to nothing.

Second reading

From the first letter of Saint Paul the Apostle to the Corìnzi
1Cor 6,13c-15a.17-20

Brothers, the body is not for impurity, but for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body. God, who raised the Lord, will also raise us by his power. Don't you know that your bodies are members of Christ? Whoever joins the Lord forms one spirit with him. Stay away from impurity! Whatever sin a man commits is outside his body; but whoever gives himself to impurity sins against his own body. Don't you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you? You received it from God and you do not belong to yourself. In fact, you were bought at a high price: therefore glorify God in your body!

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to John
Jn 1,35-42

At that time John was with two of his disciples and, fixing his gaze on Jesus who was passing by, he said: "Behold the Lamb of God!" And his two disciples, hearing him speak thus, followed Jesus. Jesus then turned around and, observing that they were following him, said to them, "What are you looking for?" They answered him, "Rabbi - which translated means teacher - where are you staying?" He said to them, "Come and see." So they went and saw where he was staying, and that day they stayed with him; it was about four in the afternoon. One of the two who had heard John's words and followed him was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. He first met his brother Simon and said to him: «We have found the Messiah» - which translates as Christ - and led him to Jesus. Fixing his gaze on him, Jesus said: «You are Simon, the son of John; you will be called Cephas ”- which means Peter.

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
“Have I learned to watch within myself, so that the temple in my heart is only for the Holy Spirit? Purify the temple, the inner temple and keep watch. Be careful, be careful: what happens in your heart? Who comes, who goes ... What are your feelings, your ideas? Do you speak with the Holy Spirit? Do you listen to the Holy Spirit? Be vigilant. Pay attention to what happens in our temple, within us. " (Santa Marta, November 24, 2017)
