Gospel of 11st July 2018

Saint Benedict abbot, patron of Europe, feast

Book of Proverbs 2,1-9.
My son, if you accept my words and keep my precepts in you,
tending your ear to wisdom, inclining your heart to prudence,
if you invoke intelligence and call wisdom,
if you search for it like silver and dig for it like treasure,
then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the science of God,
because the Lord gives wisdom, science and prudence come out of his mouth.
He reserves his protection to the righteous, he is a shield to those who act righteously,
watching over the paths of justice and keeping the ways of his friends.
Then you will understand equity and justice, and righteousness with all the ways of good.

Salmi 112(111),1-2.4-5.8-9.
Blessed is the man who fears the Lord
and finds great joy in his commandments.
His lineage will be powerful on earth,
the offspring of the righteous will be blessed.

Sprout in the darkness as a light for the righteous,
good, merciful and just.
Happy pitiful man who borrows,
administers his possessions with justice.

He will not fear the announcement of misfortune,
steadfast is his heart, trust in the Lord,
He gives largely to the poor,
his justice remains forever,
its power rises in glory.

From the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew 19,27-29.
At that time, Peter said to Jesus: "Behold, we have left everything and followed you; what then shall we obtain? "
And Jesus said to them, "Truly I say to you, you who have followed me, in the new creation, when the Son of man will be seated on the throne of his glory, you will also sit on twelve thrones to judge the twelve tribes of Israel.
Whoever has left houses, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or children, or fields for my name, will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life ».
