Gospel of 11 November 2018

First book of Kings 17,10-16.
In those days, Elijah got up and went to Zarepta. Entering the city gate, a widow was gathering wood. He called her and said, "Take me some water in a jar for me to drink."
While she was going to get it, she shouted: "Take me a piece of bread too."
She replied: “For the life of the Lord your God, I have nothing cooked, but only a handful of flour in the jar and some oil in the jar; now I collect two pieces of wood, afterwards I will go to cook it for myself and my son: we will eat it and then we will die ”.
Elijah said to her: “Do not be afraid; come on, do as you said, but first prepare a small focaccia for me and bring it to me; so you will prepare some for yourself and your son,
for the Lord says: The flour of the jar will not run out and the jar of oil will not empty until the Lord rains on the earth. "
That went and did as Elijah had said. They ate it, he and her son for several days.
The flour of the jar did not fail and the jar of oil did not diminish, according to the word that the Lord had spoken through Elijah.

Salmi 146(145),7.8-9a.9bc-10.
The Lord is faithful forever,
does justice to the oppressed,
gives bread to the hungry.

The Lord frees prisoners.
The Lord restores sight to the blind,
the Lord raises up those who have fallen,
the Lord loves the righteous,

the Lord protects the stranger.
He supports the orphan and the widow,
but it upsets the ways of the wicked.
The Lord reigns forever,

your God, or Zion, for each generation.

Letter to the Hebrews 9,24-28.
Christ did not enter a sanctuary made by human hands, a figure of the real one, but in heaven itself, to appear now in the presence of God in our favor,
and not to offer himself several times, like the high priest who enters the sanctuary every year with the blood of others.
In this case, in fact, he would have had to suffer several times since the foundation of the world. Now, however, only once, in the fullness of time, has he appeared to nullify sin through the sacrifice of himself.
And as it is established for men who die only once, after which comes the judgment,
thus Christ, after offering himself once and for all in order to take away the sins of many, will appear a second time, without any relation to sin, to those who await him for their salvation.

From the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Mark 12,38-44.
At that time, Jesus said to the crowd while teaching: "Beware of the scribes, who love to walk in long robes, receive greetings in the squares,
have the first seats in the synagogues and the first seats in the banquets.
They devour the houses of widows and flaunt long prayers; they will receive a more serious sentence. "
And sitting in front of the treasure, he watched as the crowd threw coins into the treasure. And many rich people threw many.
But when a poor widow came, she threw two pennies, that is, a penny.
Then, calling the disciples to himself, he said to them: "Truly I say to you, this widow has thrown more than all the others into the treasury.
Since everyone has given their superfluous, instead, in her poverty, she has put everything she had, everything she had to live in ».
