SUNDAY 07 APRIL 2019
Mass of the Day
V SUNDAY OF LENT - YEAR C

Liturgical Color Purple
Antiphon
Do me justice, O God, and defend my cause
against merciless people;
save me from the unjust and wicked man,
because you are my God and my defense. (Ps 42,1-2)

Collection
Come to our aid, Merciful Father,
because we can always live and act in that charity,
that pushed your Son to lay down his life for us.
He is God and lives and reigns with you ...

?Or:

God of kindness, who renews all things in Christ,
our misery lies before you:
you who sent your only-begotten Son
not to condemn, but to save the world,
forgive all our guilt
and let it flourish in our hearts
the song of gratitude and joy.
For our Lord Jesus Christ ...

First Reading
Behold, I am doing a new thing and will give water to quench my people.
From the book of the prophet Isaìa
Is 43,16-21

So says the Lord,
which opened a road into the sea
and a path in the midst of mighty waters,
that brought out carts and horses,
army and heroes at the same time;
they lie dead, they will never rise again,
went out like a wick, are extinct:

"Don't remember past things anymore,
don't think about ancient things anymore!
Here, I do a new thing:
sprouts right now, don't you notice?
I will also open a road in the desert,
I will put rivers into the steppe.
The wild beasts will glorify me,
jackals and ostriches,
because I will have supplied water to the desert,
rivers on the steppe,
to quench my people, my chosen one.
The people that I have shaped for me
will celebrate my praises. "

God's word.

Responsorial Psalm
From Psalm 125 (126)
R. The Lord has done great things for us.
When the Lord restored the fate of Zion,
we seemed to dream.
Then our mouth filled with a smile,
our tongue of joy. R.

Then it was said among the people:
"The Lord has done great things for them."
The Lord has done great things for us:
we were full of joy. R.

Lord, restore our fate,
like the streams of the Negheb.
Who sows in tears
will reap in joy. R.

In going, she goes crying,
bringing the seed to be thrown,
but on returning, he comes with joy,
carrying his sheaves. R.

Second reading
Because of Christ, I believe that everything is a loss, making me conform to his death.
From the letter of Saint Paul the Apostle to the Philippites
Phil 3,8-14

Brothers, I believe that everything is a loss because of the sublimity of the knowledge of Christ Jesus, my Lord. For him I have let go of all these things and consider them rubbish, to earn Christ and be found in him, having as my justice not that deriving from the Law, but that which comes from faith in Christ, the justice that comes from God, based on faith: so that I may know him, the power of his resurrection, communion with his sufferings, making myself conformed to his death, in the hope of reaching the resurrection from the dead.

I have certainly not reached the goal, I have not reached perfection; but I try to run to conquer it, because I too have been conquered by Christ Jesus. Brothers, I still do not think I have conquered it. I only know this: forgetting what is behind me and leaning towards what is in front of me, I run towards the goal, to the prize that God calls us to receive up there, in Christ Jesus.

God's word.

Gospel acclamation
Praise and honor to you, Lord Jesus!

Return to me wholeheartedly, says the Lord,
because I am merciful and merciful. (Gl 2,12-13)

Praise and honor to you, Lord Jesus!

Gospel
Who among you is sinless, throw the stone first against her.
From the Gospel according to John
Jn 8,1-11

At that time, Jesus made his way to the Mount of Olives. But in the morning he went to the temple again and all the people went to him. And he sat down and began to teach them.

Then the scribes and the Pharisees brought him a woman caught in adultery, placed her in the middle and said to him: «Master, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. Now Moses, in the Law, has commanded us to stone women like this. What do you think?". They said this to test him and to have reason to accuse him.
But Jesus bent down and began to write with his finger on the ground. However, as they insisted on questioning him, he stood up and said to them, "Who among you is sinless, throw the stone first against her." And, bending down again, he wrote on the ground. Those who heard it went away one by one, beginning with the older ones.

They left him alone, and the woman was in the middle. Then Jesus got up and said to her, «Woman, where am I? Has no one condemned you? » And she said, "Nobody, Lord." And Jesus said: «I also do not condemn you; go and from now on don't sin anymore ».

Word of the Lord.

On offers
Lord, hear our prayers:
you who enlightened us with the teachings of faith,
transform us with the power of this sacrifice.
For Christ our Lord.

Communion antiphon
"Woman, has no one condemned you?"
"Nobody, Lord."
"I don't condemn you either: from now on don't sin anymore." (Jn 8,10-11)

After communion
Almighty God, grant us your faithful
to always be inserted as living members in Christ,
for we have communicated to his body and his blood.
For Christ our Lord.
