First Reading
Our God comes to save us.
From the book of Numbers
Nm 21,4-9

In those days, the Israelites moved from Mount Or by the way of the Red Sea, to circumvent the territory of Edom. But the people could not bear the trip. The people said against God and Moses: "Why did you bring us up from Egypt to make us die in this desert?" Because here there is neither bread nor water and we are sick of this light food ». Then the Lord sent burning serpents among the people which bitten the people, and a large number of Israelites died. The people came to Moses and said, "We have sinned, because we have spoken against the Lord and against you; beg the Lord to drive these snakes away from us. " Moses prayed for the people. The Lord said to Moses, "Make yourself a snake and put it on a pole; whoever has been bitten and looks at him will remain alive. " Moses then made a bronze snake and placed it on the rod; when a snake had bitten someone, if he looked at the bronze snake, he remained alive.

God's word

Responsorial Psalm
From Ps 101 (102)
R. Lord, listen to my prayer.
Lord, listen to my prayer,
my cry for help reaches you.
Don't hide your face from me
on the day I am in distress.
Hold your ear towards me,
when I invoke you, quickly, answer me! R.

The people will fear the name of the Lord
and all the kings of the earth your glory,
when the Lord rebuilds Zion
and it will have appeared in all its splendor.
He turns to the prayer of the derelict,
do not despise their prayer. R.

This is written for the future generation
and a people, created by him, will give praise to the Lord:
"The Lord looked out from the top of his sanctuary,
from heaven he looked at the earth,
to hear the prisoner's sigh,
to free the condemned to death ". R.

Gospel acclamation
Praise and honor to you, Lord Jesus!

The seed is the word of God, the sower is Christ:
whoever finds him has eternal life. (See Jn 3,16:XNUMX)

Praise and honor to you, Lord Jesus!

Gospel
You will have lifted up the Son of man, then you will know that I am.
From the Gospel according to John
Jn 8,21-30

At that time, Jesus said to the Pharisees: «I am going and you will seek me, but you will die in your sin. Where I am going, you cannot come ». Then the Jews said: "Perhaps he wants to kill himself, since he says:" Where I am going, you cannot come "?». And he said to them: "You are from below, I am from above; you are from this world, I am not from this world. I have told you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am, you will die in your sins ». Then they said to him, "Who are you?" Jesus said to them, "Just what I tell you. I have many things to say about you, and to judge; but he who sent me is truthful, and I tell the world what I have heard from him. " They did not understand that he spoke to them about the Father. Then Jesus said: «When you have lifted up the Son of man, then you will know that I am and that I do nothing by myself, but I speak as the Father taught me. He who sent me is with me: he has not left me alone, because I always do the things he likes. " At his words, many believed in him.
