Today's Gospel January 10, 2021 with the words of Pope Francis

READING OF THE DAY
From the book of the prophet Isaìa
Is 55,1-11

Thus says the Lord: «O you all thirsty, come to the water, you who have no money, come; buy and eat; come, buy without money, without paying, wine and milk. Why do you spend money on what is not bread, your earnings on what does not satisfy? Come on, listen to me and you will eat good things and taste succulent foods. Pay attention and come to me, listen and you will live.
I will establish an everlasting covenant for you, the favors assured to David.
Behold, I have made him a witness among the peoples, prince and sovereign over the nations.
Behold, you will call people you did not know; nations will come to you that did not know you because of the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, who honors you.
Seek the Lord while he is found, invoke him while he is near. Let the wicked abandon his way and the unjust man his thoughts; return to the Lord who will have mercy on him and to our God who generously forgives. Because my thoughts are not your thoughts, your ways are not my ways. Oracle of the Lord.
As the sky dominates the earth, so much my ways dominate your ways, my thoughts dominate your thoughts. For just as the rain and snow come down from heaven and do not return without having irrigated the earth, without having fertilized it and made it germinate, so that it may give the seed to those who sow and bread to those who eat, so will it be with my word that came out of my mouth. : it will not return to me without effect, without having done what I want and without having done what I sent it for. "

Second reading

From the first letter of St. John the apostle
1 Jn 5,1: 9-XNUMX

Beloved, whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ was begotten of God; and whoever loves the one who generated, also loves the one who was generated by him. In this we know that we love the children of God: when we love God and keep his commandments. In fact, God's love consists in observing his commandments; and his commandments are not burdensome. Whoever has been begotten of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has conquered the world: our faith. And who is it that wins the world if not who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? He is the one who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with water only, but with water and blood. And it is the Spirit who gives witness, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three who testify: the Spirit, the water and the blood, and these three are in agreement. If we accept the testimony of men, the testimony of God is superior: and this is the testimony of God, which he gave concerning his own Son.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to Mark
Mc 1,7-11

At that time, John proclaimed: «He who is stronger than me comes after me: I am not worthy to bend down to untie the laces of his sandals. I baptized you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit. " And behold, in those days, Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized in the Jordan by John. And immediately, coming out of the water, he saw the heavens pierce and the Spirit descending towards him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: "You are my beloved Son: in you I have placed my satisfaction".

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
This feast of the baptism of Jesus reminds us of our baptism. We too are reborn in Baptism. In Baptism the Holy Spirit came to remain in us. This is why it is important to know what the date of my Baptism is. We know what the date of our birth is, but we don't always know what the date of our Baptism is. (…) And celebrate the date of baptism in the heart every year. (Angelus, January 12, 2020)
