Today's Gospel December 11, 2020 with the words of Pope Francis

READING OF THE DAY
From the book of the prophet Isaiah
Is 48,17-19

Thus says the Lord your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: I am the Lord your God who teach you for your own good, who guide you on the way you must go. If you had heeded my commands, your well-being would be like a river, your righteousness like the waves of the sea. Your offspring would be like sand and those born from your bowels like grains of sand; your name would never be removed or erased in front of me.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to Matthew
Mt 11,16-19

At that time, Jesus said to the crowds: “To whom can I compare this generation? It is similar to children who are sitting in the square and, turning to their companions, shout: We played the flute and you didn't dance, we sang a lament and you didn't beat your chest! John came, who does not eat or drink, and they say: He has a demon. The Son of Man has come, eating and drinking, and they say: Behold, he is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners. But wisdom has been recognized as right for the works that it accomplishes ».

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
Seeing these children who are afraid of dancing, of crying, afraid of everything, who ask for safety in everything, I think of these sad Christians who always criticize the preachers of the Truth, because they are afraid to open the door to the Holy Spirit. We pray for them, and we also pray for us, that we do not become sad Christians, cutting off the Holy Spirit's freedom to come to us through the scandal of preaching.
