Today's Gospel November 12, 2020 with the words of Pope Francis

READING OF THE DAY
From the letter of St Paul the apostle to Filèmone
FM 7-20

Brother, your charity has been a cause of great joy and consolation for me, because through your work the saints have been deeply comforted.
For this reason, despite having full freedom in Christ to order you what is opportune, in the name of charity I rather urge you, I, Paul, as I am, old, and now also a prisoner of Christ Jesus.
I pray for Onesimo, my son, whom I generated in chains, him, who one day was useless to you, but who is now useful to you and to me. I send him back, he who is so dear to my heart.
I wanted to keep him with me to assist me in your place, now that I'm in chains for the gospel. But I didn't want to do anything without your opinion, because the good you do is not forced, but voluntary. Perhaps this is why he was separated from you for a moment: for you to have him back forever; however, no longer as a slave, but much more than a slave, as a dear brother, first of all for me, but even more so for you, both as a man and as a brother in the Lord.
So if you consider me a friend, welcome him as myself. And if he has offended you in anything or owes you, put everything on my account. I, Paolo, write it in my own hand: I will pay.
Not to tell you that you too are indebted to me, and to yourself! Yes brother! May I obtain this favor in the Lord; give this relief to my heart, in Christ!

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to Luke
Lc 17,20-25

At that time, the Pharisees asked Jesus: "When will the kingdom of God come?" He replied to them, "The kingdom of God is not coming in a way to attract attention, and no one will say, 'Here it is,' or, 'There it is.' Because, behold, the kingdom of God is among you! ».
Then he said to his disciples: “Days will come when you will desire to see even one of the days of the Son of man, but you will not see it.
They will tell you: "There it is", or: "Here it is"; don't go there, don't follow them. For as lightning flashes from one end of the sky to the other, so will the Son of man be in his day. But first it is necessary that he suffers a lot and is rejected by this generation ”.

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
But what is this kingdom of God, this kingdom of heaven? They are synonyms. We immediately think of something that concerns the afterlife: eternal life. Of course, this is true, the kingdom of God will extend endlessly beyond earthly life, but the good news that Jesus brings us - and that John anticipates - is that the kingdom of God must not wait for it in the future. God comes to establish his lordship in our history, in the today of every day, in our life; and where it is received with faith and humility, love, joy and peace sprout.
