Today's Gospel 12 September 2020 with the words of Pope Francis

READING OF THE DAY
From the first letter of Saint Paul the Apostle to the Corìnzi
1Cor 10,14-22

Dear ones, stay away from idolatry. I speak as to intelligent people. Judge for yourselves what I say: the cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a communion with the blood of Christ? And the bread that we break, is it not a communion with the body of Christ? Since there is only one bread, we are, although many, one body: we all share in the one bread. Look at Israel according to the flesh: are not those who eat the sacrificial victims in communion with the altar?
What then do I mean? That meat sacrificed to idols is worth anything? Or that an idol is worth something? No, but I say that those sacrifices are offered to demons and not to God.
Now, I don't want you to commune with demons; you cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot participate in the Lord's table and in the table of demons. Or do we want to provoke the jealousy of the Lord? Are we stronger than him?

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to Luke
Lc 6,43-49

At that time, Jesus said to his disciples:
“There is no good tree that produces bad fruit, nor is there any bad tree that produces good fruit. In fact, each tree is recognized by its fruit: figs are not collected from thorns, nor are grapes harvested from a bramble.
The good man from the good treasure of his heart brings out the good; the bad man from his bad treasure draws evil out: his mouth in fact expresses that which overflows from the heart.
Why do you call on me: "Lord, Lord!" and don't you do what I say?
Whoever comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you who he is like: he is like a man who, building a house, dug very deep and laid the foundation on the rock. When the flood came, the river hit that house, but could not move it because it was well built.
On the other hand, those who listen and do not put into practice are like a man who built a house on earth, without foundations. The river hit it and it immediately collapsed; and the destruction of that house was great ».

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
The rock. So is the Lord. Whoever trusts in the Lord will always be sure, because his foundations are on the rock. That's what Jesus says in the Gospel. It speaks of a wise man who built his house on a rock, that is, on trust in the Lord, on serious things. And this trust, too, is a noble material, because the foundation of this construction of our life is sure, it is strong. (Santa Marta, December 5, 2019
