Today's Gospel November 15, 2020 with the words of Pope Francis

READING OF THE DAY
First Reading

From the book of Proverbs
Pr 31,10-13.19-20.30-31

Who can find a strong woman? Far superior to pearls is its value. In her the heart of her husband trusts and he will not lack profit. It gives him happiness and not sorrow for all the days of his life. She procures wool and linen and works them willingly with her hands. He extends his hand to the distaff and his fingers hold the spindle. He opens his palms to the poor, extends his hand to the poor.
The charm is illusory and the beauty is fleeting, but the woman who fears God is to be praised.
Be grateful to her for the fruit of her hands and praise her at the gates of the city for her works.

Second reading

From the first letter of St Paul the apostle to the Thessalonicési
1Ts 5,1-6

Regarding times and moments, brothers, you do not need me to write to you; for you know well that the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night. And when people say, "There is peace and security!", Then suddenly ruin will strike them, like the labor of a pregnant woman; and they will not be able to escape.
But you, brothers, are not in darkness, so that that day may surprise you like a thief. In fact you are all children of the light and children of the day; we do not belong to the night, nor to the darkness. So let us not sleep like the others, but we are vigilant and sober.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to Matthew
Mt 25,14-30

At that time, Jesus told his disciples this parable: «It will happen as to a man who, setting out on a journey, called his servants and handed over his goods to them.
To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, according to the abilities of each; then he left.
Immediately the one who had received five talents went to employ them, and earned five more. So even the one who had received two earned two more. But the one who had received only one talent went to make a hole in the ground and hid his master's money there.
After a long time the master of those servants returned and wanted to settle accounts with them.
The one who had received five talents came and brought five more, saying, Lord, you gave me five talents; here, I earned another five. Well, good and faithful servant - his master told him -, you have been faithful in little, I will give you power over much; take part in your master's joy.
Then he who had received two talents came forward and said, Lord, you have given me two talents; here, I have earned two more. Well, good and faithful servant - his master told him -, you have been faithful in little, I will give you power over much; take part in your master's joy.
Finally the one who had received only one talent also presented himself and said: Lord, I know you are a hard man, who reap where you have not sown and reap where you have not scattered. I was afraid and went to hide your talent under the ground: this is what is yours.
The master answered him: Wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered; you should have entrusted my money to the bankers and so, on returning, I would have withdrawn mine with interest. So take the talent from him, and give it to him who has the ten talents. For whoever has, will be given and will be in abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away. And throw the useless servant out into the darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth
