Today's Gospel 15 September 2020 with the words of Pope Francis

READING OF THE DAY
From the letter to the Jews
Heb 5,7-9

Christ, in the days of his earthly life, offered prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to God who could save him from death and, through his complete abandonment to him, he was heard.
Although he was a Son, he learned obedience from what he suffered and, made perfect, became the cause of eternal salvation for all who obey him.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to John
Jn 19,25-27

At that time, his mother, his mother's sister, Mary the mother of Cléopa and Mary of Magdala stood near the cross of Jesus.
Then Jesus, seeing his mother and the disciple whom he loved beside her, said to his mother: "Woman, here is your son!"
Then he said to the disciple: "Behold your mother!"
And from that hour the disciple took her with him.

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
In this time where I don't know if it is the main sense but there is a great sense in the world of orphanage, (it is) an orphan world, this Word has a great importance, the importance that Jesus tells us: 'I do not leave you orphans, I give you a mother '. And this is also our pride: we have a mother, a mother who is with us, protects us, accompanies us, helps us, even in difficult times, in bad moments. The Church is a mother. It is our 'holy mother Church', who generates us in Baptism, makes us grow in her community: Mother Mary and mother Church know how to caress their children, they give tenderness. And where there is motherhood and life there is life, there is joy, there is peace, one grows in peace. (Santa Marta, September 15, 2015
