Today's Gospel November 16, 2020 with the words of Pope Francis

READING OF THE DAY
From the book of the Apocalypse of Saint John the Apostle
Ap 1,1-5a; 2,1-5a

Revelation of Jesus Christ, to whom God delivered it to show his servants the things that are to happen shortly. And he manifested it, sending it through his angel to his servant John, who testifies to the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ by reporting what he has seen. Blessed are those who read and blessed are those who hear the words of this prophecy and keep the things written on it: the time is in fact near.

John, to the seven churches that are in Asia: grace to you and peace from the One who is, who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who stand before his throne, and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead and the ruler of the kings of the earth.

[I heard the Lord say to me]:
"To the angel of the Church who is in Ephesus write:
“Thus speaks the One who holds the seven stars in his right hand and walks among the seven golden candlesticks. I know your works, your toil and your perseverance, so you cannot bear the bad ones. You have tested those who call themselves apostles and are not, and you have found them liars. You are persevering and have endured a lot for my name, without getting tired. But I have to reproach you for having abandoned your first love. Therefore remember where you fell from, repent and do the works you did before ”».

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to Luke
Lc 18,35-43

As Jesus approached Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the road begging. Hearing the people go by, he asked what was happening. They announced to him: «Pass by Jesus, the Nazarene!».

Then he cried out, "Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me!" Those who walked ahead scolded him for keeping quiet; but he cried out even louder: "Son of David, have mercy on me!"
Jesus then stopped and ordered them to lead him to him. When he was near, he asked him: "What do you want me to do for you?" He replied, "Lord, may I see again!" And Jesus said to him: «Have sight again! Your faith has saved you ».

Immediately he saw us again and began to follow him glorifying God. And all the people, seeing, gave praise to God.

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
“He can do it. When it will, how it will do it we do not know. This is the security of prayer. The need to tell the Lord truthfully. 'I'm blind, Lord. I have this need. I have this disease. I have this sin. I have this pain ... ', but always the truth, as is the thing. And he feels the need, but he feels that we ask for his intervention with confidence. Let us think if our prayer is needy and safe: needy, because we tell the truth to ourselves, and sure, because we believe that the Lord can do what we ask ". (Santa Marta 6 December 2013
