Today's Gospel November 17, 2020 with the words of Pope Francis

READING OF THE DAY
From the book of the Apocalypse of Saint John the Apostle
Rev 3,1-6.14-22

I John, heard the Lord say to me:

"To the angel of the Church who is in Sardi write:
“Thus speaks the One who possesses the seven spirits of God and the seven stars. I know your works; you are believed alive, and you are dead. Be vigilant, reinvigorate what remains and is about to die, because I have not found your works perfect before my God. Remember therefore how you received and heard the Word, keep it and repent because, if you are not vigilant, I will come as a thief, without you knowing what time I'll come to you. However in Sardis there are some who have not stained their garments; they will walk with me in white clothes, because they are worthy. The winner will be dressed in white robes; I will not erase his name from the book of life, but I will recognize him before my Father and before his angels. Whoever has ears, listen to what the Spirit is saying to the Churches ”.

To the angel of the Church who is in Laodicèa write:
“Thus speaks the Amen, the trustworthy and truthful Witness, the Principle of God's creation. I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Wish you were cold or hot! But since you are lukewarm, that is, you are neither cold nor hot, I am going to vomit you out of my mouth. You say: I'm rich, I got rich, I don't need anything. But you don't know you're unhappy, miserable, poor, blind and naked. I advise you to buy from me gold purified by fire to become rich, and white clothes to dress you and so that your shameful nakedness does not appear, and eye drops to anoint your eyes and recover your sight. I, all those I love, reproach and educate them. Therefore be zealous and repent. Here: I stand at the door and knock. If anyone listens to my voice and opens the door for me, I will come to him, dine with him and he with me. I will make the victor sit with me on my throne, just as I also have won and sit with my Father on his throne. Whoever has ears, listen to what the Spirit is saying to the Churches ”».

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to Luke
Lc 19,1-10

At that time, Jesus entered the city of Jericho and was passing through it, when suddenly a man, named Zacchèo, chief of the tax collectors and rich, was trying to see who Jesus was, but he could not because of the crowd, because he was small. of stature. So he ran ahead and, to be able to see him, he climbed a sycamore tree, because he had to pass that way.

When he reached the place, Jesus looked up and said to him: "Zacchèo, come down immediately, because today I have to stay at your house". He got out quickly and welcomed him full of joy. Seeing this, everyone murmured: "He has entered the house of a sinner!"

But Zacchèo stood up and said to the Lord: "Look, Lord, I am giving half of what I have to the poor, and if I have stolen from someone, I will pay back four times as much."

Jesus answered him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he too is a son of Abraham. In fact, the Son of Man came to seek and save what was lost ”.

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
“Go to the Lord and say: 'But you know Lord that I love you'. Or if I don't feel like saying it like this: 'You know Lord that I would like to love you, but I am so much a sinner, so much a sinner'. And he will do the same as he did with the prodigal son who spent all his money on vices: he will not let you finish your speech, with a hug he will silence you. The embrace of God's love ”.
