Today's Gospel October 17, 2020 with the words of Pope Francis

READING OF THE DAY
From the letter of Saint Paul the Apostle to the Ephesians
Eph 1,15: 23-XNUMX

Brothers, having heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and of the love you have towards all the saints, I continually give thanks for you by remembering you in my prayers, so that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation for a profound knowledge of him; enlighten the eyes of your heart to make you understand what hope he has called you to, what treasure of glory his inheritance among the saints contains and what is the extraordinary greatness of his power towards us, which we believe, according to the effectiveness of his strength and its vigor.
He manifested it in Christ, when he raised him from the dead and made him sit at his right hand in heaven, above every Principality and Power, above every Force and Domination and every name that is named not only in the present tense. but also in the future.
In fact, he put everything under his feet and gave it to the Church as head over all things: she is his body, the fullness of him who is the perfect fulfillment of all things.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to Luke
Lc 12,8-12

At that time, Jesus said to his disciples:
«I tell you: whoever recognizes me before men, the Son of man will also recognize him before the angels of God; but whoever disowns me before men will be disowned before the angels of God.
Whoever speaks out against the Son of man will be forgiven; but whoever blasphemes the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.
When they bring you in front of the synagogues, the magistrates and the authorities, don't worry about how or what to excuse yourself, or what to say, because the Holy Spirit will teach you at that moment what needs to be said ».

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
The Holy Spirit teaches us, reminds us, and - another trait - makes us speak, with God and with men. There are no dumb Christians, dumb in soul; no, there is no place for it. He makes us speak with God in prayer (…) And the Spirit makes us speak with men in fraternal dialogue. It helps us to talk to others by recognizing in them brothers and sisters (...) But there is more: the Holy Spirit also makes us speak to men in prophecy, that is, making us humble and docile "channels" of the Word of God. (Pentecost Homily June 8, 2014
