Today's Gospel March 18 2020 with comment

From the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew 5,17-19.
At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: «Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish, but to give fulfillment.
Truly I say to you, until heaven and earth have passed, not even an iota or a sign will pass by the law, without everything being accomplished.
Therefore whoever transgresses one of these precepts, even the least, and teaches men to do the same, will be considered minimum in the kingdom of heaven. Those who observe them and teach them to men will be considered great in the kingdom of heaven. »

The: "instruments of good works"
"Behold, I come to do your will, O God" (Heb 10,7: XNUMX)
Faithfulness is the richest and most delicate flower of love down here. Up there, in heaven, love will be expressed in thanksgiving, complacency, joy, in the full and complete possession of the loved object; down here it is translated with a generous and constant fidelity to God, despite the darkness of faith, despite trials, difficulties, contradictions. Following the example of our divine model we must abandon ourselves without reservation, as he himself gave himself without reservation to the Father entering the world "Behold, I am coming to do, O God, your will" (Heb 10,7: XNUMX).

(...) We must say to Jesus: “I want to be entirely yours; I wish to live your life with faith and love; I want your desires to be my desires, and like you for the love of your Father, I want to do everything you can like: "I have placed your law deep in my heart" (Ps 40,9 Vg); you are pleased that it faithfully guards the prescriptions of the Christian law that you have established (...), as proof of the delicacy of my love for you, I mean as you yourself have said: not even an iota nor a comma will I remove from your law (cf. Mt 5,18 , 16,10); give me the grace that you do not let pass the least thing that can please you so that, according to your word, "being faithful in small things, it will also become so in large" (cf. Lk 14,31:8,29); above all, always act for your sake and for the Father (cf. Jn XNUMX:XNUMX); my greatest desire would be to be able to say like you: "I always do the things that are pleasing to the Father" (cf. Jn XNUMX:XNUMX).
