Today's Gospel November 18, 2020 with the words of Pope Francis

READING OF THE DAY
From the book of the Apocalypse of Saint John the Apostle
Rev 4,1: 11-XNUMX

I, John, saw: behold, a door was open in heaven. The voice, which earlier I had heard speak to me like a trumpet, said, "Get up here, I'll show you the things that must happen next." I was immediately taken by the Spirit. And behold, there was a throne in heaven, and on the throne One was sitting. The seated one was similar in appearance to jasper and carnelian. A rainbow similar in emerald appearance enveloped the throne. Around the throne there were twenty-four seats and on the seats were seated twenty-four elders wrapped in white robes with golden crowns on their heads. From the throne came lightning, voices and thunder; seven lighted torches burned before the throne, which are the seven spirits of God. Before the throne there was like a transparent sea like crystal. In the middle of the throne and around the throne were four living beings, full of eyes in front and behind. The first living was similar to a lion; the second living was similar to a calf; the living third had the appearance of a man; the fourth living was like a flying eagle. The four living beings each have six wings, around and inside they are studded with eyes; day and night they do not cease to repeat: "Holy, holy, holy the Lord God, the Almighty, He who was, who is and who is to come!". And whenever these living beings give glory, honor and thanks to the One who is seated on the throne and who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders bow down before the One who sits on the throne and worship the One who lives forever and ever and they throw their crowns before the throne, saying: "You are worthy, O Lord and our God, to receive glory, honor and power, because you created all things, by your will they existed and were created" .

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to Luke
Lc 19,11-28

At that time, Jesus spoke a parable, because he was close to Jerusalem and they thought that the kingdom of God must manifest itself at any moment. So he said: 'A man of noble family left for a distant country to receive the title of king and then return. Called ten of his servants, he handed them ten gold coins, saying: "Make them bear fruit until I return." But his citizens hated him and sent a delegation behind him to say: "We do not want him to come and reign over us." After receiving the title of king, he returned and called those servants to whom he had handed the money, to find out how much each had earned. The first came and said, "Sir, your gold coin has earned ten." He said to him: “Well, good servant! Since you have shown yourself faithful in little, you receive power over ten cities ”.
Then the second came and said, "Sir, your gold coin has earned five." To this too he said: "You too will be in charge of five cities."
Then another came and said, “Sir, here is your gold coin, which I have hidden in a handkerchief; I was afraid of you, who are a severe man: take what you have not put in deposit and reap what you have not sown ”.
He replied: “By your own words I judge you, wicked servant! Did you know that I am a stern man, that I take what I did not deposit and reap what I did not sow: why then did you not deliver my money to a bank? On my return I would have collected it with interest ".
Then he said to those present: "Take the gold coin from him and give it to him who has ten." They said to him, "Sir, he already has ten!" “I tell you, to him who has, it will be given; on the other hand, whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away. And those enemies of mine, who did not want me to become their king, bring them here and kill them in front of me ”.
Having said these things, Jesus walked ahead of everyone going up to Jerusalem.

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
Fidelity to the Lord: and this does not disappoint. If each of us is faithful to the Lord, when death comes, we will say like Francis 'sister death, come'… It does not scare us. And when the day of judgment comes, we will look to the Lord: 'Lord, I have many sins, but he tried to be faithful'. And the Lord is good. This advice I give you: 'Be faithful until death - says the Lord - and I will give you the crown of life'. With this fidelity we will not be afraid at the end, at our end we will not be afraid on the day of judgment ". (Santa Marta 22 November 2016
