Today's Gospel December 2, 2020 with the words of Pope Francis

READING OF THE DAY
From the book of the prophet Isaìa
Is 25,6-10a

In that day,
he will prepare the Lord of hosts
for all peoples on this mountain,
a banquet of fat food,
a banquet of excellent wines,
of succulent foods, of refined wines.
He will tear up this mountain
the veil that covered the faces of all peoples
and the blanket spread over all nations.
It will eliminate death forever.
The Lord God will wipe the tears from every face,
the ignominy of his people
will make disappear from all the earth,
for the Lord has spoken.

And it will be said on that day: «Here is our God;
in him we hoped to save us.
This is the Lord we have hoped for;
let us rejoice, let us rejoice in his salvation,
for the hand of the Lord will rest on this mountain. "

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to Matthew
Mt 15,29-37

At that time, Jesus came to the Sea of Galilee and, having gone up the mountain, stood there.
A large crowd gathered around him, bringing with them the lame, the lame, the blind, the deaf and many other sick people; they laid them at his feet, and he healed them, so that the crowd was amazed to see the dumb speaking, the lame healed, the lame walking and the blind seeing. And he praised the God of Israel.

Then Jesus called his disciples to himself and said: «I feel compassion for the crowd. They have been with me for three days now and have nothing to eat. I do not want to postpone them fasting, so that they do not fail along the way ». And the disciples said to him, "How can we find so many loaves in a desert to feed such a large crowd?"
Jesus asked them, "How many loaves do you have?" They said, "Seven, and a few little fish." After ordering the crowd to sit on the ground, he took the seven loaves and the fish, gave thanks, broke them and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples to the crowd.
Everyone ate their fill. They took away the leftover pieces: seven full bags.

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
Who among us does not have his "five loaves and two fish"? We all have them! If we are willing to place them in the Lord's hands, they will be enough for there to be a little more love, peace, justice and above all joy in the world. How much joy is needed in the world! God is capable of multiplying our small gestures of solidarity and making us partakers of his gift. (Angelus, July 26, 2015)
