Today's Gospel September 2, 2020 with the advice of Pope Francis

READING OF THE DAY
From the first letter of Saint Paul the Apostle to the Corìnzi
1Cor 3,1-9

Up to now I, brothers, have not been able to speak to you as spiritual beings, but as carnal beings, as babies in Christ. I gave you milk to drink, not solid food, because you weren't capable of it yet. And not even now you are, because you are still carnal. Since there is envy and discord among you, are you not carnal and do you not behave in a human way?

When one says: "I am Paul's" and another says "I am Apollo's", do you not simply prove to be men? But what is Apollo? What is Paul? Servants, through whom you have come to faith, and each as the Lord has granted him.

I planted, Apollo watered, but it was God who made it grow. So, neither who plants nor who irrigates is worth anything, but only God, who makes it grow. Those who plant and those who irrigate are one and the same: each will receive his own reward according to his work. We are God's collaborators, and you are God's field, God's building.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to Luke
Lc 4,38-44

At that time, Jesus came out of the synagogue and entered the house of Simon. Simon's mother-in-law was suffering from a great fever and they prayed for her. He leaned over her, commanded the fever, and the fever left her. And immediately he stood up and served them.

When the sun went down, all those who had infirm with various diseases brought them to him. And he, laying his hands on each one, healed them. Demons also came out of many, crying out: "You are the Son of God!" But he threatened them and would not let them speak, because they knew that he was the Christ.
At dawn he went out and went to a deserted place. But the crowds looked for him, caught up with him and tried to hold him back so he wouldn't go away. But he said to them: “It is necessary for me to announce the good news of the kingdom of God to other cities as well; for this I was sent ».

And he was preaching in the synagogues of Judea.

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
Having come to earth to announce and bring about the salvation of the whole man and of all men, Jesus shows a particular predilection for those who are wounded in body and spirit: the poor, sinners, the possessed, the sick, the marginalized. . Thus he reveals himself to be a doctor of both souls and bodies, a good Samaritan of man. He is the true Savior: Jesus saves, Jesus heals, Jesus heals. (Angelus, February 8, 2015)
