Today's Gospel October 20, 2020 with the words of Pope Francis

READING OF THE DAY
From the letter of Saint Paul the Apostle to the Ephesians
Eph 2,12: 22-XNUMX

Brothers, remember that at that time you were without Christ, excluded from the citizenship of Israel, foreign to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. Now, however, in Christ Jesus, you who were once distant have become close, thanks to the blood of Christ.
In fact, he is our peace, the one who made one thing of two, breaking down the wall of separation that divided them, that is, enmity, by means of his flesh.
Thus he abolished the Law, made up of prescriptions and decrees, to create in himself, of the two, a single new man, making peace, and to reconcile both of them with God in one body, by means of the cross, eliminating enmity in itself.
He came to announce peace to you who were far away, and peace to those who were close.
In fact, through him we can present ourselves, one and the other, to the Father in one Spirit.
So then you are no longer strangers or guests, but you are fellow citizens of the saints and relatives of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, having Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone. In him the whole building grows well ordered for to be a holy temple in the Lord; in him you too are built up together to become God's dwelling through the Spirit.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to Luke
Lc 12,35-38

At that time, Jesus said to his disciples:

“Be ready, with your clothes tight to your hips and your lamps lit; be like those who wait for their master when he returns from the wedding, so that when he comes and knocks, they open it immediately.

Blessed are those servants whom the master finds awake on his return; verily, I tell you, he will tighten his garments around his hips, have them sit at table and come and serve them.
And if, arriving in the middle of the night or before dawn, you will find them so, blessed are they! ».

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
And we can ask ourselves the question: 'Do I watch over myself, over my heart, over my feelings, over my thoughts? Do I keep the treasure of grace? Do I guard the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in me? Or do I leave it like that, sure, I think it's okay? ' But if you do not guard, what is stronger than you comes. But if someone stronger than him comes and wins him, he snatches away the weapons in which he trusted and divides the spoils. Vigilance! Vigilance over our heart, because the devil is cunning. It is never cast out forever! Only the last day will be. (Santa Marta, 11 October 2013)
