Today's Gospel October 21, 2020 with the words of Pope Francis

READING OF THE DAY
From the letter of Saint Paul the Apostle to the Ephesians
Eph 3,2: 12-XNUMX

Brothers, I think you have heard of the ministry of God's grace, entrusted to me on your behalf: by revelation the mystery was made known to me, of which I have already briefly written to you. By reading what I have written, you can realize the understanding I have of the mystery of Christ.

It has not been manifested to men of previous generations as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets through the Spirit: that the nations are called, in Christ Jesus, to share the same inheritance, to form the same body and to be you participate in the same promise through the Gospel, of which I became a minister according to the gift of God's grace, which was granted to me according to the efficacy of his power.
To me, who am the last of all saints, this grace has been granted: to announce to the people the impenetrable riches of Christ and to enlighten everyone on the realization of the mystery hidden for centuries in God, creator of the universe, so that, through the Church, may the manifold wisdom of God now be manifested to the Principalities and Powers of heaven, according to the eternal plan that he implemented in Christ Jesus our Lord, in which we have the freedom to access God in full trust through faith in him.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to Luke
Lc 12,39-48

At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: “Try to understand this: if the master of the house knew what time the thief was coming, he would not let his house be broken into. You too get ready because, in the hour you do not imagine, the Son of man is coming ».
Then Peter said, "Lord, are you saying this parable for us or for everyone?"
The Lord replied: "Who then is the trustworthy and prudent steward whom the master will put in charge of his servants to give the food ration in due time?" Blessed is that servant whom his master, on arriving, will find doing so. Truly I tell you that he will put him in charge of all his possessions.
But if that servant says in his heart: "My master is late in coming" and starts beating the servants and serving her, eating, drinking and getting drunk, that servant's master will come one day when he doesn't expect it. and at an hour that he does not know, he will punish him severely and inflict on him the fate that the infidels deserve.
The servant who, knowing his master's will, has not arranged or acted according to his will, will receive many blows; the one who, not knowing it, will have done things worthy of beating, will receive few.

From whoever was given much, much will be asked; whoever has been entrusted with a lot, much more will be required ”.

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
Watching means understanding what is going on in my heart, it means stopping for a while and examining my life. Am I a Christian? Do I educate my children more or less well? Is my life Christian or is it worldly? And how can I understand this? The same recipe as Paul: looking at Christ crucified. Worldliness is only understood where it is and is destroyed before the cross of the Lord. And this is the purpose of the Crucifix in front of us: it is not an ornament; it is precisely what saves us from these enchantments, from these seductions that lead you to worldliness.
