Today's Gospel 21 September 2020 with the words of Pope Francis

READING OF THE DAY
From the letter of Saint Paul the Apostle to the Ephesians
Eph 4,1: 7.11-13-XNUMX

Brothers, I, a prisoner for the Lord's sake, exhort you: behave in a way worthy of the call you have received, with all humility, gentleness and magnanimity, bearing one another in love, having at heart to preserve the unity of the spirit through of the bond of peace.
One body and one spirit, as is the hope to which you have been called, that of your vocation; one Lord, one faith, one baptism. One God and Father of all, who is above all, works through all and is present in all.
However, grace was given to each of us according to the measure of Christ's gift. And he has given some to be apostles, others to be prophets, still others to be evangelists, others to be pastors and teachers, to prepare brothers to fulfill the ministry, in order to build the body of Christ, until we all arrive at the unity of faith and knowledge of the Son of God, up to the perfect man, until we reach the measure of the fullness of Christ.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to Matthew
Mt 9,9-13

At that time, as he was going away, Jesus saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office, and he said to him, "Follow me." And he got up and followed him.
While sitting at the table in the house, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat at the table with Jesus and his disciples. Seeing this, the Pharisees said to his disciples, "How come your master eats with tax collectors and sinners?"
Hearing this, he said: «It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. Go and learn what it means: "I want mercy and not sacrifices". In fact, I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners ».

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
Memory of what? Of those facts! Of that encounter with Jesus that changed my life! Who had mercy! Who was so good to me and also said to me: 'Invite your sinful friends, because we are celebrating!'. That memory gives strength to Matthew and to all these to go forward. 'The Lord changed my life! I have met the Lord! '. Always remember. It's like blowing on the embers of that memory, isn't it? Blow to keep the fire, always ”. (Santa Marta, July 5, 2013
