READING OF THE DAY
From the book of the Apocalypse of Saint John the Apostle
Rev 15,1: 4-XNUMX

I, John, saw another sign in heaven, great and wonderful: seven angels who had seven scourges; the last ones, for with them the wrath of God is fulfilled.

I also saw as a sea of crystal mixed with fire; those who had conquered the beast, its image and the number of its name, stood on the crystal sea. They have divine lyres and sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb:

"Great and wonderful are your works,
Lord God almighty;
your ways are just and true,
King of the Gentiles!
O Lord, who will not fear
and will not give glory to your name?
Since you alone are holy,
and all people will come
and they will bow down to you,
because your judgments were made manifest. "

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to Luke
Lc 21,12-19

At that time, Jesus said to his disciples:

“They will lay their hands on you and persecute you, handing you over to synagogues and prisons, dragging you before kings and governors, because of my name. You will then have the opportunity to bear witness.
So make sure you don't prepare your defense first; I will give you word and wisdom, so that all your adversaries will not be able to resist or fight back.
You will even be betrayed by your parents, siblings, relatives and friends, and they will kill some of you; you will be hated by all because of my name. But not a single hair of your head will be lost.
With your perseverance you will save your life ».

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
The Christian's only strength is the Gospel. In times of difficulty, we must believe that Jesus stands before us, and does not cease to accompany his disciples. Persecution is not a contradiction to the Gospel, but it is part of it: if they persecuted our Master, how can we hope that we will be spared the struggle? However, in the midst of the whirlwind, the Christian must not lose hope, thinking that he has been abandoned. Indeed, among us there is Someone who is stronger than evil, stronger than the mafias, than dark plots, those who profit from the skin of the desperate, those who crush others with arrogance ... Someone who has always listened to the voice of blood of Abel crying from the earth. Christians must therefore always be found on the "other side" of the world, the one chosen by God.
