Today's Gospel 25 September 2020 with the words of Pope Francis

READING OF THE DAY
From the book of the Qoèlet
Qo 3,1-11

Everything has its moment, and every event has its time under the sky.

There is a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot what has been planted.
A time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build.
A time to cry and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance.
A time to throw stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing.
A time to seek and a time to lose,
a time to keep and a time to throw away.
A time to tear and a time to sew,
a time to be silent and a time to speak.
A time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
What is the gain of those who work hard?

I have considered the occupation that God has given to men to work with.
He made everything beautiful in its time;
He also placed the duration of time in their hearts,
without, however, that men can find the reason
of what God does from beginning to end.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to Luke
Lc 9,18-22

One day Jesus was in a lonely place praying. The disciples were with him and he asked them this question: "Who do the crowds say I am?" They answered: “John the Baptist; others say Elia; others one of the ancient prophets who is risen ».
Then he asked them, "But who do you say I am?" Peter replied: "The Christ of God."
He strictly ordered them not to tell anyone. "The Son of man - he said - must suffer a lot, be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the scribes, be killed and rise again on the third day".

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
And the Christian is a man or a woman who knows how to live in the moment and knows how to live in time. The moment is what we have in our hands now: but this is not the time, this passes! Maybe we can feel ourselves masters of the moment, but the deception is believing ourselves masters of time: time is not ours, time belongs to God! The moment is in our hands and also in our freedom of how to take it. And more: we can become sovereign of the moment, but of time there is only one sovereign, one Lord, Jesus Christ.
