Today's Gospel November 26, 2020 with the words of Pope Francis

READING OF THE DAY
From the book of the Apocalypse of Saint John the Apostle
Rev 18, 1-2.21-23; 19,1-3.9a

I, John, saw another angel descend from heaven with great power, and the earth was illuminated by his splendor.
He shouted in a loud voice:
"Babylon the great has fallen,
and has become a den of demons,
refuge of every unclean spirit,
refuge of every unclean bird
and refuge of every impure and hideous beast ».

A mighty angel then took a stone, the size of a millstone, and threw it into the sea, exclaiming:
“With this violence it will be destroyed
Babylon, the great city,
and no one will find it anymore.
The sound of the musicians,
of the lyre, flute and trumpet players,
it will no longer be heard in you;
every craftsman of any trade
it will no longer be found in you;
the noise of the millstone
it will no longer be heard in you;
the light of the lamp
it will no longer shine in you;
the voice of the bride and groom
it will no longer be heard in you.
Because your merchants were the great of the earth
and all the nations by your drugs were seduced ».

After this, I heard like a mighty voice of a huge crowd in heaven saying:
"Alleluia!
Salvation, glory and power
I belong to our God,
because his judgments are true and just.
He condemned the great prostitute
who corrupted the earth with his prostitution,
avenging on her
the blood of his servants! ».

And for the second time they said:
"Alleluia!
Its smoke rises forever and ever! ».

Then the angel said to me: "Write: Blessed are those invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb!"

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to Luke
Lc 21,20-28

At that time, Jesus said to his disciples:

“When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its devastation is near. Then those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, those who are within the city depart from them, and those who are in the country do not return to the city; for those will be days of vengeance, so that all that has been written may be fulfilled. In those days woe to the women who are pregnant and those who are nursing, for there will be great calamity in the land and wrath against this people. They will fall by the edge of the sword and be taken captive to all nations; Jerusalem will be trampled underfoot by the pagans until the times of the pagans are fulfilled.

There will be signs in the sun, in the moon and in the stars, and on earth the anguish of peoples anxious for the roar of the sea and the waves, while men will die for fear and for the expectation of what will happen on earth. The powers of the heavens will in fact be upset. Then they will see the Son of man coming in a cloud with great power and glory. When these things begin to happen, get up and raise your head, because your liberation is near ”.

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
"Rise up and lift your head, for your deliverance is near" (v. 28), the Gospel of Luke warns. It is about getting up and praying, turning our thoughts and hearts to Jesus who is about to come. You get up when you expect something or someone. We await Jesus, we want to await him in prayer, which is closely linked to vigilance. Praying, waiting for Jesus, opening up to others, being awake, not closed in on ourselves. Therefore we need the Word of God who through the prophet announces to us: “Behold, the days will come when I will fulfill the promises of good that I have done […]. I will make a just shoot sprout for David, which will exercise judgment and justice on earth "(33,14-15). And that right sprout is Jesus, it is Jesus who comes and whom we await.
