Today's Gospel 27 September 2020 with the words of Pope Francis

READING OF THE DAY
First Reading

From the book of the prophet Ezekiel
Eze 18,25-28

Thus says the Lord: «You say: The Lord's way of acting is not right. Hear then, house of Israel: Is my conduct not right, or rather yours is not right? If the righteous strays from justice and commits evil and dies because of this, he dies precisely for the evil he has committed. And if the wicked one turns from his wickedness which he has committed and does what is right and just, he makes himself live. He reflected, he distanced himself from all the sins committed: he will certainly live and not die ».

Second reading

From the letter of Saint Paul the Apostle to the Philippites
Phil 2,1-11

Brothers, if there is any consolation in Christ, if there is some comfort, fruit of charity, if there is some communion of spirit, if there are feelings of love and compassion, make my joy full with the same feeling and with the same charity, remaining unanimous and in agreement. Do nothing out of rivalry or vainglory, but each of you, with all humility, consider the others superior to yourself. Each is not looking for his own interest, but also that of others. Have in yourselves the same sentiments of Christ Jesus: although he was in the condition of God, he did not consider it a privilege to be like God, but emptied himself by assuming a condition of servant, becoming similar to men. Looking recognized as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death and death on the cross. For this God exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, so that in the name of Jesus every knee should bend in the heavens, on the earth and under the earth, and every tongue proclaim: "Jesus Christ is Lord!", to the glory of God the Father.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to Matthew
Mt 21,28-32

At that time, Jesus said to the chief priests and the elders of the people: "What do you think? A man had two sons. He turned to the first and said: Son, go and work in the vineyard today. And he replied: I don't feel like it. But then he repented and went there. He turned to the second and said the same. And he said, "Yes, sir." But he didn't go there. Which of the two did the father's will? ». They replied: "The first." And Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, tax collectors and prostitutes pass you along in the kingdom of God. For John came to you on the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him; the tax collectors and prostitutes, on the other hand, believed him. On the contrary, you have seen these things, but then you have not even repented so as to believe him ».

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
Where is my trust? In power, in friends, in money? In the Lord! This is the inheritance that the Lord promises us: 'I will leave among you a humble and poor people, they will trust in the name of the Lord'. Humble because he feels himself a sinner; trusting in the Lord because he knows that only the Lord can guarantee something that does him good. And indeed that these chief priests to whom Jesus was addressing did not understand these things and Jesus had to tell them that a prostitute will enter the Kingdom of Heaven before them.
