Today's Gospel 28 September 2020 with the words of Pope Francis

READING OF THE DAY
From the book of Job
Gb 1,6-22

One day, the children of God went to present themselves to the Lord and Satan also went among them. The Lord asked Satan: "Where do you come from?". Satan answered the Lord: "From the earth, which I have traveled far and wide." The Lord said to Satan: “Have you paid attention to my servant Job? No one is like him on earth: an upright and upright man, God-fearing and far from evil ». Satan replied to the Lord: "Does Job fear God for nothing?" Isn't it you who put a hedge around him and his house and all that is his? You have blessed the work of his hands and his possessions spread over the earth. But stretch out your hand a little and touch what it has, and you will see how it will curse you openly! ». The Lord said to Satan: "Behold, what he has is in your power, but do not extend your hand to him." Satan withdrew from the presence of the Lord.
One day it happened that, while his sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in the elder brother's house, a messenger came to Job and said to him, “The oxen were plowing and the donkeys grazing near them. The Sabèi broke in, took them away, and put the guardians to the sword. Only I escaped to tell you about it ».
While he was still speaking, another came in and said, 'A divine fire has fallen from heaven: it has set itself upon the sheep and the keepers and devoured them. Only I escaped to tell you about it ».
While he was still speaking, another came in and said, 'The Chaldees formed three bands: they swooped down on the camels and carried them away and put the guardians to the sword. Only I escaped to tell you about it ».
While he was still speaking, another came in and said, "Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in their elder brother's house, when suddenly a mighty wind blew up from beyond the desert: it hit the four sides. of the house, which is ruined on the young and they are dead. Only I escaped to tell you about it ».
Then Job got up and tore his cloak; he shaved his head, fell to the ground, bowed down and said:
"Naked I came out of my mother's womb,
and I will return naked.
The Lord gave, the Lord took away,
blessed be the name of the Lord! ».

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to Luke
Lc 9,46-50

At that time, a discussion arose among the disciples, which of them was greater.

Then Jesus, knowing the thought of their heart, took a child, placed him near him and said to them: «Whoever welcomes this child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For whoever is the smallest among all of you, this is great.

John spoke up saying: "Master, we saw one who cast out demons in your name and we prevented him, because he does not follow you with us". But Jesus answered him, "Do not prevent him, because whoever is not against you is for you."

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
Who is the most important in the Church? The Pope, the bishops, the monsignors, the cardinals, the parish priests of the most beautiful parishes, the presidents of lay associations? No! The greatest in the Church is the one who makes himself the servant of all, the one who serves everyone, not who has more titles. There is only one path against the spirit of the world: humility. Serve others, choose the last place, don't climb. (Santa Marta, February 25, 2020
