Today's Gospel January 4, 2020 with the words of Pope Francis

READING OF THE DAY
From the first letter of St. John the apostle
1 Jn 3,7: 10-XNUMX

Children, no one deceives you. He who practices righteousness is just as he [Jesus] is righteous. Whoever commits sin comes from the devil, because from the beginning the devil is a sinner. For this the Son of God appeared: to destroy the works of the devil. Anyone who has been generated by God does not commit sin, because a divine germ remains in him, and he cannot sin because he has been generated by God. God, and neither is he who does not love his brother.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to John
Jn 1,35-42

At that time, John was with two of his disciples and, fixing his gaze on Jesus who was passing by, he said: "Behold the Lamb of God!" And his two disciples, hearing him speak thus, followed Jesus. Jesus then turned and, noticing that they were following him, said to them, "What are you looking for?" They replied, "Rabbi, which translated means teacher, where are you staying?" He said to them, "Come and see." So they went and saw where he was staying, and that day they stayed with him; it was about four in the afternoon. One of the two who heard John's words and followed him was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. He first met his brother Simon and said to him: «We have found the Messiah», which translates as Christ, and led him to Jesus. Fixing his gaze on him, Jesus said: «You are Simon, the son of John; you will be called Cephas », which means Peter.

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
The request of the two disciples to Jesus: "Where are you staying?" (v. 38), has a strong spiritual sense: it expresses the desire to know where the Master lives, in order to be with him. The life of faith consists in the desire to be with the Lord, and therefore in a continuous search for the place where He lives. (…) Seeking Jesus, encountering Jesus, following Jesus: this is the path. Seeking Jesus, encountering Jesus, following Jesus. (Angelus, January 14, 2018
