Today's Gospel September 4, 2020 with the advice of Pope Francis

READING OF THE DAY
From the first letter of Saint Paul the Apostle to the Corìnzi
1Cor 4,1-5

Brothers, let each one consider us as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. Now, what is required of administrators is that each be faithful.

But I care very little about being judged by you or by a human court; indeed, I don't even judge myself, because, even if I'm not aware of any guilt, I'm not justified for this. My judge is the Lord!

Do not therefore want to judge anything ahead of time, until the Lord comes. He will bring out the secrets of darkness and manifest the intentions of hearts; then each will receive praise from God.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to Luke
Lc 5,33-39

At that time, the Pharisees and their scribes said to Jesus: «The disciples of John often fast and pray, as do the disciples of the Pharisees; your instead eat and drink! ».

Jesus answered them, "Can you make the wedding guests fast when the bridegroom is with them?" But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them: then in those days they will fast. "

He also told them a parable: “No one tears a piece from a new suit to put it on an old suit; otherwise the new will tear it away and the piece taken from the new will not fit the old. And no one pours new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the new wine will split the skins, spread and the skins will be lost. New wine must be poured into new wineskins. And no one who drinks old wine desires the new, because he says: “The old is agreeable!” ».

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
We will always be tempted to throw this newness of the Gospel, this new wine into old attitudes ... It is sin, we are all sinners. But acknowledge it: 'This is a shame. Don't say this goes with this. No! Old wineskins cannot carry new wine. It is the newness of the Gospel. And if we have something that is not of Him, repent, ask for forgiveness and move on. May the Lord give us all the grace to always have this joy, as if we were going to a wedding. And also having this fidelity that is the only bridegroom is the Lord ”. (S. Marta, 6 September 2013)
