Today's Gospel December 5, 2020 with the words of Pope Francis

READING OF THE DAY
From the book of the prophet Isaìa
Is 30,19: 21.23-26-XNUMX

People of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will no longer have to cry. At your cry of supplication [the Lord] will grant you grace; as soon as he hears, he will answer you.
Even if the Lord will give you the bread of affliction and the water of tribulation, your teacher will no longer be hidden; your eyes will see your teacher, your ears will hear this word behind you: "This is the road, follow it", in case you ever go left or right.
Then he will grant rain for the seed you sow in the ground, and the bread produced from the earth will also be abundant and substantial; on that day your cattle will graze on a large meadow. The oxen and donkeys who work the land will eat tasty fodder, ventilated with a shovel and a sieve. On every mountain and on every elevated hill canals and streams of water flow on the day of the great massacre, when the towers will fall.
The light of the moon will be like the light of the sun and the light of the sun will be seven times more, like the light of seven days, when the Lord heals the wound of his people and heals the bruises caused by his beating.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to Matthew
Mt 9,35 - 10,1.6-8

At that time, Jesus went through all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the gospel of the Kingdom and healing every disease and infirmity.
Seeing the crowds, he felt sorry for them, because they were tired and exhausted like sheep that have no shepherd. Then he said to his disciples: «The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few! Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into his harvest! ».
Calling his twelve disciples to himself, he gave them power over impure spirits to drive them out and heal every disease and infirmity. And he sent them, ordering them: «Turn to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. On the way, preach, saying that the kingdom of heaven is near. Heal the sick, raise the dead, purify the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give ».

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
This request of Jesus is always valid. We must always pray to the "Lord of the harvest", that is, God the Father, to send workers to work in his field which is the world. And each of us must do it with an open heart, with a missionary attitude; our prayer must not be limited only to our needs, to our needs: a prayer is truly Christian if it also has a universal dimension.
