Today's Gospel November 5, 2020 with the words of Pope Francis

READING OF THE DAY
From the letter of Saint Paul the Apostle to the Philippites
Fil 3,3-8a

Brothers, we are the true circumcised, who celebrate worship moved by the Spirit of God and boast in Christ Jesus without placing trust in the flesh, although I can also trust in it.
If anyone thinks he can trust in the flesh, I more than him: circumcised at the age of eight days, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Jew son of Jews; as for the Law, a Pharisee; as for zeal, persecutor of the Church; as for the justice that comes from observing the Law, blameless.
But these things, which were gains to me, I considered a loss on account of Christ. Indeed, I believe that everything is a loss due to the sublimity of the knowledge of Christ Jesus, my Lord.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to Luke
Lc 15,1-10

At that time, all the tax collectors and sinners approached Jesus to listen to him. The Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying: "This one welcomes sinners and eats with them."

And he told them this parable: "Which of you, if he has a hundred sheep and loses one, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go in search of the lost one until he finds it?" When he has found it, full of joy he puts it on his shoulders, goes home, calls his friends and neighbors and says to them: “Rejoice with me, because I have found my sheep, the one that was lost”.
I tell you: in this way there will be joy in heaven for a single sinner who is converted, more than for ninety-nine righteous who do not need conversion.

Or what woman, if she has ten coins and loses one, doesn't light the lamp and sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it? And after finding it, she calls her friends and neighbors, and says: "Rejoice with me, because I have found the coin that I had lost".
Thus, I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God for a single sinner who is converted ”.

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
The Lord cannot resign himself to the fact that even one person can get lost. God's action is that of those who go in search of lost children and then celebrate and rejoice with everyone in their discovery. It is an unstoppable desire: not even ninety-nine sheep can stop the shepherd and keep him closed in the fold. He could reason like this: "I'll take stock: I have ninety-nine, I've lost one, but it's not a big loss". Instead, he goes to look for that, because each one is very important to him and that is the most needy, the most abandoned, the most discarded; and he goes to look for her.
