Today's Gospel October 5, 2020 with the words of Pope Francis

READING OF THE DAY
From the letter of Saint Paul the Apostle to the Galati
Gal 1,6: 12-XNUMX

Brothers, I am amazed that, so quickly, from him who called you with the grace of Christ you are moving on to another gospel. But there is no other, except that there are some who upset you and want to subvert the gospel of Christ.
But even if we ourselves, or an angel from heaven proclaims a different gospel to you than the one we have announced, let it be anathema! We have already said it and now I repeat it: if someone announces to you a gospel other than the one you have received, let him be anathema!

In fact, is it the consent of men that I seek, or that of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ!

I declare to you, brothers, that the Gospel announced by me does not follow a human model; in fact I have not received it nor learned it from men, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to Luke
Lc 10,25-37

At that time, a doctor of the Law stood up to test Jesus and asked, "Master, what should I do to inherit eternal life?" Jesus said to him, "What is written in the law? How do you read? ». He replied: "You will love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself." He said to him, "You answered well; do this and you will live. "

But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus: "And who is my neighbor?". Jesus continued: «A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell into the hands of the brigands, who took everything away from him, beat him to death and went away, leaving him half dead. By chance, a priest was going down that same road and, when he saw him, he passed on. A Levite also, when he came to that place, saw and passed by. Instead a Samaritan, who was on a journey, passed by him, saw and felt sorry for him. He came close to him, bandaged his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them; then he loaded him onto his mount, took him to a hotel and took care of him. The next day, he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, “Take care of him; what you will spend more, I will pay you on my return ”. Which of these three do you think was close to the one who fell into the hands of the brigands? ». He replied: "Whoever took pity on him." Jesus said to him: "Go and do so too."

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
This parable is a wonderful gift for all of us, and also a commitment! To each of us Jesus repeats what he said to the doctor of the Law: "Go and do likewise" (v. 37). We are all called to walk the same path as the Good Samaritan, who is the figure of Christ: Jesus bent over us, made himself our servant, and thus saved us, so that we too can love ourselves as he loved us, at the same way.
