Today's Gospel January 6, 2021 with the words of Pope Francis

READING OF THE DAY
From the book of the prophet Isaìa
Is 60,1-6

Arise, clothe yourself with light, for your light is coming, the glory of the Lord shines upon you. For, behold, darkness covers the earth, thick fog envelops the peoples; but the Lord shines on you, his glory appears on you. Gentiles will walk to your light, kings to the splendor of your rising. Raise your eyes around and see: all these have gathered, they come to you. Your sons come from afar, your daughters are carried in your arms. Then you will look and you will be radiant, your heart will palpitate and expand, because the abundance of the sea will pour out on you, the wealth of the nations will come to you. A crowd of camels will invade you, dromedaries from Madian and Efa, all will come from Sheba, bringing gold and incense and proclaiming the glories of the Lord.

Second reading

From the letter of Saint Paul the Apostle to the Ephesians
Eph 3,2: 5.5-6-XNUMX

Brothers, I think you have heard of the ministry of God's grace, entrusted to me on your behalf: by revelation the mystery was made known to me. It has not been manifested to men of previous generations as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets through the Spirit: that the nations are called, in Christ Jesus, to share the same inheritance, to form the same body and to be partake of the same promise through the Gospel.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to Matthew
Mt 2,1-12

Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, in the time of King Herod, behold, some Magi came from the east to Jerusalem and said: «Where is he who was born, the King of the Jews? We saw his star rising and we came to adore him ». Upon hearing this, King Herod was troubled and all Jerusalem with him. Gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired from them about the place where Christ was to be born. They answered him, "In Bethlehem of Judea, because this is written by the prophet:" And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah, are not really the last of the principal cities of Judah: for a chief will come out of you who will be the shepherd. of my people, Israel ”». Then Herod, secretly called the Magi, asked them to tell him exactly the time when the star appeared and sent them to Bethlehem saying: "Go and find out carefully about the child and, when you have found him, let me know, because 'I come to adore him ». Having heard the king, they left. And behold, the star, which they had seen rising, went ahead of them, until it came and stood over the place where the child was. Upon seeing the star, they felt great joy. Entering the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their caskets and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. Warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they returned to their country by another route.

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
To adore is to meet Jesus without the list of requests, but with the only request to be with Him. It is to discover that joy and peace grow with praise and thanksgiving. (…) Worship is a life-changing act of love. It is to do like the Magi: it is to bring gold to the Lord, to tell him that nothing is more precious than him; it is offering him incense, to tell him that only with him can our life rise upwards; is to present him the myrrh, with which the wounded and mangled bodies were anointed, to promise Jesus to help our marginalized and suffering neighbor, because he is there.
