Today's Gospel October 6, 2020 with the words of Pope Francis

READING OF THE DAY
From the letter of Saint Paul the Apostle to the Galati
Gal 1,13: 24-XNUMX

Brothers, you have certainly heard of my former conduct in Judaism: I was fiercely persecuting the Church of God and devastating it, surpassing in Judaism most of my peers and compatriots, as I was relentless in upholding the traditions of the fathers.

But when God, who chose me from my mother's womb and called me with his grace, was pleased to reveal his Son in me so that I could announce him among the people, immediately, without asking anyone's advice, without going to Jerusalem. from those who were apostles before me, I went to Arabia and then returned to Damascus.

Later, three years later, I went up to Jerusalem to get to know Cephas and stayed with him for fifteen days; of the apostles I saw none other than James, the brother of the Lord. In what I write to you - I say it before God - I am not lying.
Then I went to the regions of Syria and Cilìcia. But I was not personally known by the churches of Judea which are in Christ; they had only heard it said: "He who once persecuted us is now announcing the faith he once wanted to destroy." And they glorified God for my sake.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to Luke
Lc 10,38-42

At that time, while they were on the way, Jesus entered a village and a woman, named Martha, hosted him.
She had a sister named Mary, who, sitting at the Lord's feet, listened to his word. Marta, however, was distracted for the many services.
Then he came forward and said, "Sir, don't you care what my sister left me alone to serve?" So tell her to help me. ' But the Lord answered her: «Martha, Martha, you are worried and agitated for many things, but only one thing is needed. Maria has chosen the best part, which will not be taken away from her ».

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
In her busyness and getting busy, Martha risks forgetting - and this is the problem - the most important thing, that is, the presence of the guest, who was Jesus in this case. He forgets the presence of the guest. And the guest is not simply served, fed, cared for in every way. Above all, it must be listened to. Remember this word well: listen! Because the guest must be welcomed as a person, with his story, his heart full of feelings and thoughts, so that he can truly feel at home. But if you welcome a guest to your house and you keep doing things, you make him sit there, he mute and you dumb, it is as if he were made of stone: the guest of stone. No. The guest must be listened to. (Angelus, July 17, 2016
