Today's Gospel December 9, 2020 with the words of Pope Francis

READING OF THE DAY
From the book of the prophet Isaìa
Is 40,25-31

"Who could you compare me to,
as if I am his equal? " says the Saint.
Lift up your eyes and see:
who created such things?
He brings out their army in precise numbers
and calls them all by name;
for his omnipotence and the vigor of his strength
none is missing.

Why do you say, Jacob,
and you, Israel, repeat:
«My way is hidden from the Lord
and my right is neglected by my God "?
Don't you know?
Haven't you heard it?
Eternal God is the Lord,
who created the ends of the earth.
He does not tire or tire,
his intelligence is inscrutable.
He gives strength to the weary
and multiplies vigor to the weary.
Even young people struggle and get tired,
adults stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the Lord regain strength,
they put wings like eagles,
they run without fretting,
they walk without getting tired.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to Matthew
Mt 11,28-30

At that time, Jesus said:

«Come to me, all you who are tired and oppressed, and I will give you refreshment. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, who am meek and humble of heart, and you will find refreshment for your life. In fact, my yoke is sweet and my weight light ».

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
The "refreshment" that Christ offers to the fatigued and oppressed is not merely psychological relief or an almsgiving, but the joy of the poor in being evangelized and builders of the new humanity. This is the relief: the joy, the joy that Jesus gives us. It is unique, it is the joy that He himself has. (Angelus, July 5, 2020
