Gospel and Saint of the day: 10 January 2020

First letter of Saint John the apostle 4,19-21.5,1-4.
Dear ones, we love, because he loved us first.
If anyone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar. For whoever does not love his brother who sees cannot love God who does not see.
This is the commandment we have from him: whoever loves God, also love his brother.
Anyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God; and whoever loves the one who generated, also loves the one who was born of him.
From this we know we love the children of God: if we love God and keep his commandments,
because in this consists the love of God, in observing his commandments; and his commandments are not burdensome.
Everything that was born of God wins the world; and this is the victory that defeated the world: our faith.

Salmi 72(71),1-2.14.15bc.17.
God, give your judgment to the king,
your righteousness to the king's son;
rule your people with justice
and your poor with righteousness.

He will redeem them from violence and abuse,
their blood will be precious in his eyes.
We will pray for him every day,
will be blessed forever.

His name lasts forever,
before the sun his name persists.
In him all the lineages of the earth will be blessed
and all peoples will say it blessed.

From the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke 4,14-22a.
At that time, Jesus returned to Galilee with the power of the Holy Spirit and his fame spread throughout the region.
He taught in their synagogues and everyone praised them.
He went to Nazareth, where he had been raised; and as usual, he entered the synagogue on Saturday and got up to read.
He was given the scroll of the prophet Isaiah; apertolo found the passage where it was written:
The Spirit of the Lord is above me; for this reason he consecrated me with the anointing, and sent me to proclaim a happy message to the poor, to proclaim liberation to prisoners and sight to the blind; to free the oppressed,
and preach a year of grace from the Lord.
Then he rolled up the volume, handed it to the attendant and sat down. Everyone's eyes in the synagogue were fixed on him.
Then he began to say: "Today this Scripture which you have heard with your ears has been fulfilled."
Everyone testified and was amazed at the words of grace that came out of his mouth.
