Gospel and Saint of the day: 12 January 2020

Book of Isaiah 42,1-4.6-7.
Thus says the Lord: «Here is my servant whom I support, my chosen one with whom I am pleased. I have placed my spirit on him; he will bring the right to the nations.
He will not shout or raise his tone, he will not make his voice heard in the square,
it will not break a cracked rod, it will not extinguish a wick with a dull flame. He will proclaim the law firmly;
it will not fail and it will not fall until it has established the right on earth; and for his doctrine the islands will be waiting.
“I, the Lord, called you for justice and took you by the hand; I formed you and established you as an alliance of the people and light of the nations,
so that you open your eyes to the blind and bring out the prisoners from prison, those who live in darkness from imprisonment ».

Salmi 29(28),1a.2.3ac-4.3b.9b-10.
Give to the Lord, children of God,
give the Lord glory and power.
Give the Lord the glory of his name,
prostrate yourselves to the Lord in holy ornaments.

The Lord thunders on the water,
the Lord, on the immensity of the waters.
The Lord thunders strongly,
the Lord thunders with power,

the God of glory unleashes thunder
and strip the forests.
The Lord is seated on the storm,
the Lord sits king forever

Acts of the Apostles 10,34-38.
In those days, Peter took the floor and said: “In truth I am realizing that God does not make preferences of people,
but whoever fears him and practices justice, whatever people he belongs to, is acceptable to him.
This is the word that he sent to the children of Israel, bringing the good news of peace, through Jesus Christ, who is the Lord of all.
You know what happened throughout Judea, starting from Galilee, after the baptism preached by John;
that is how God consecrated in the Holy Spirit and power Jesus of Nazareth, who passed by benefiting and healing all those who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him. "

From the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew 3,13-17.
At that time Jesus from Galilee went to the Jordan to John to be baptized by him.
John, however, wanted to prevent him, saying: "I need to be baptized by you and you come to me?".
But Jesus said to him, "Leave it for now, for it is fitting that we do all justice in this way." Then John agreed.
As soon as he was baptized, Jesus came out of the water: and behold, the heavens opened and he saw the Spirit of God come down like a dove and come upon him.
And here is a voice from heaven who said: "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."
