Gospel and Saint of the day: 6 December 2019

Book of Isaiah 29,17-24.
Of course, a little longer and Lebanon will change into an orchard and the orchard will be considered a forest.
On that day the deaf will hear the words of a book; freed from darkness and darkness, the eyes of the blind will see.
The humble will rejoice in the Lord again, the poorest will rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.
Because the tyrant will no longer be, the mocking will disappear, those who plot iniquities will be eliminated,
how many by word make others guilty, how many at the door lend a trap to the judge and ruin the just for nothing.
Therefore, the Lord who redeemed Abraham says to the house of Jacob: "From now on Jacob will no longer have to blush, his face will no longer turn pale,
for seeing the work of my hands among them, they will sanctify my name, sanctify the Saint of Jacob and fear the God of Israel.
The misguided spirits will learn wisdom and the grouchers will learn the lesson. "
Psalms 27 (26), 1.4.13-14.
The Lord is my light and my salvation,
who will I be afraid of?
The Lord is defense of my life,
Who will I be afraid of?

One thing I asked the Lord, this one I seek:
to live in the house of the Lord every day of my life,
to taste the sweetness of the Lord
and admire its sanctuary.

I am sure I contemplate the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living.
Hope in the Lord, be strong,
may your heart be refreshed and hope in the Lord.

From the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew 9,27-31.
At that time, while Jesus was going away, two blind men followed him shouting: «Son of David, have mercy on us».
Entering the house, the blind men approached him, and Jesus said to them, "Do you believe that I can do this?" They said to him, "Yes, Lord!"
Then he touched their eyes and said, "Let it be done to you according to your faith."
And their eyes opened. Then Jesus admonished them saying: «Take care that nobody knows!».
But they, as soon as they left, spread its fame throughout that region.

SAINT NICOLA OF BARI

He was probably born in Pàtara di Licia, between 261 and 280, from Epifanio and Giovanna who were Greek Christians and wealthy. Growing up in an environment of Christian faith, he lost his parents prematurely due to the plague, according to the most widespread sources. Thus he became heir to a rich patrimony which he distributed among the poor and therefore remembered as a great benefactor. He later left his hometown and moved to Myra where he was ordained a priest. Upon the death of the metropolitan bishop of Myra, he was acclaimed by the people as a new bishop. Imprisoned and exiled in 305 during the persecution of Diocletian, he was then freed by Constantine in 313 and resumed his apostolic activity. He died in Myra on December 6, presumably in the year 343, perhaps in the monastery of Zion.
