Gospel, Saint, January 1st prayer

Today's Gospel
From the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke 2,16-21.
At that time, the shepherds went without delay and found Mary and Joseph and the child, who was lying in the manger.
And after seeing him, they reported what the child had been told.
Everyone who heard was amazed at the things the shepherds said.
Mary, for her part, kept all these things in her heart.
The shepherds then returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as they had been told.
When the eight days prescribed for circumcision were over, Jesus was named after him, as he had been called by the angel before being conceived in the mother's womb.

Saint of today - DIVINE MATERNITY OF MARY
O most holy Virgin, who proclaimed yourself humble handmaid of the Lord,

you were chosen by the Most High to become Mother of his only-begotten Son,

our Savior Jesus Christ.
We admire your greatness and invoke your maternal goodness.
We know that you look at us with mother tenderness,

because we too have become, by grace, your children.
So to you we raise our heart,

we consecrate ourselves to you with all filial confidence;

we rely on your heavenly protection

because you watch lovingly on our way.
Take them in your maternal arms, O Mary,

how you welcomed Jesus your divine Son.

Ejaculatory of the day

Father, in your hands I entrust my soul together with all my loved ones.
