Bible verses to express gratitude to God

Christians can turn to the scriptures to express gratitude to friends and family, because the Lord is good and his kindness is eternal. Let yourself be encouraged by the following Bible verses specially chosen to help you find the right words of appreciation, express kindness, or say someone a heartfelt thank you.

Thanks Bible Verses
Naomi, a widow, had two married children who died. When her daughters pledged to accompany her home, she said:

"And may the Lord reward you for your kindness ..." (Ruth 1: 8, NLT)
When Boaz allowed Ruth to harvest wheat in her fields, she thanked him for his kindness. In return, Boaz honored Ruth for all she had done to help her mother-in-law, Naomi, by saying:

"May the Lord, God of Israel, under whose wings you came to take refuge, fully reward you for what you have done." (Ruth 2:12, NLT)
In one of the most dramatic verses of the New Testament, Jesus Christ said:

"There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends." (John 15:13, NLT)
What better way is there to thank someone and make their day brighter than to wish them this Zephaniah blessing:

“By the Lord, your God lives among you. He is a powerful savior. He will delight in you with joy. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs. " (Zephaniah 3:17, NLT)
After Saul died and David was anointed king over Israel, David blessed and thanked the men who had buried Saul:

"May the Lord now show you kindness and faithfulness, and I will also show you the same favor because you did this." (2 Samuel 2: 6, NIV)
The apostle Paul sent many words of encouragement and thanks to the believers in the churches he visited. At the church in Rome he wrote:

To all in Rome who are loved by God and called to be his holy people: grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is brought back all over the world. (Romans 1: 7-8, NIV)
Here Paul offered thanks and a prayer for his brothers and sisters in the church of Corinth:

I always thank my God for you for his grace that has been given to you in Christ Jesus. Because in him you have been enriched in every way - with every kind of word and with every knowledge - God thus confirming our testimony of Christ in the middle to you. So you are not missing any spiritual gifts as you wait impatiently for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. It will also hold you to the end, so that you are irreproachable on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 1: 4–8, NIV)
Paul never failed to thank God seriously for his faithful partners in the ministry. He assured them that he was praying with joy for them:

I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your collaboration in the Gospel from the first day to today ... (Philippians 1: 3-5, NIV)
In his letter to the family in the church of Ephesus, Paul expressed his unceasing gratitude to God for the good news he had heard of them. He assured them that he regularly intercepted for them, and then uttered a wonderful blessing for his readers:

For this reason, since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the people of God, I have not stopped thanking you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, be able to give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you can know him better. (Ephesians 1: 15-17, NIV)
Many great leaders act as mentors for someone younger. For the apostle Paul his "true son in faith" was Timothy:

I thank God, that I serve, as my ancestors did, with a clear conscience, as day and night that I constantly remember you in my prayers. Remembering your tears, I long to see you, to be full of joy. (2 Timothy 1: 3-4, NIV)
Again, Paul offered thanks to God and a prayer for his brothers and sisters in Thessaloniki:

We always thank God for all of you, constantly quoting you in our prayers. (1 Thessalonians 1: 2, ESV)
In Numbers 6, God told Moses that Aaron and his sons blessed the sons of Israel with an extraordinary declaration of security, grace and peace. This prayer is also known as the blessing. It is one of the oldest poems in the Bible. The meaningful blessing is a wonderful way to say thank you to someone you love:

The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord makes his face shine upon you
and be kind to you;
The Lord raises his face on you
and gives you peace. (Numbers 6: 24-26, ESV)
In response to the Lord's merciful deliverance from disease, Hezekiah offered a song of thanks to God:

The living, the living, thanks you, as I do today; the father lets your children know your loyalty. (Isaiah 38:19, ESV)
