Verses on the history of the Nativity
Matthew 1: 18-25
This is how Jesus the Messiah was born. Her mother, Mary, was engaged to marry Joseph. But before the marriage took place, while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant thanks to the power of the Holy Spirit. Joseph, her boyfriend, was a good man and didn't want to publicly dishonor her, so he decided to quietly break the engagement. As he considered him, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. "Joseph, son of David," said the angel, "do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. Because the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit. And she will have a son and you will name him Jesus, since he will save his people from their sins ”. All this happened to fulfill the message of the Lord through his prophet: “Look! The virgin will conceive a child! He will give birth to a son and they will call him Emmanuel, which means 'God is with us' ”. When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded and took Mary as his wife. But he did not have sex with her until the birth of her son, and Joseph named him Jesus. (NLT)

Matthew 2: 1-23
Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea during the reign of King Herod. At that time, some sages from the eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking: “Where is the new born king of the Jews? We saw his star rising and came to worship him. "King Herod was deeply troubled when he heard this, like everyone else in Jerusalem. He called a meeting of the main priests and teachers of religious law and asked: "Where was the Messiah born?" "In Bethlehem in Judea," they said, "because this is what the prophet wrote:" O Bethlehem in the land of Judah, you are not among the ruling cities of Judah, for a ruler will come to you who will be the shepherd for my people Israel ".

Then Herod called a private meeting with the wise men and learned from them the moment when the star first appeared. Then he said to them, “Go to Bethlehem and look carefully for the boy. And when you find it, go back and tell me so that I can go and worship it too! After this interview the wise men made their way. And the star they had seen in the east led them to Bethlehem. He preceded them and stopped on the spot where the boy was. When they saw the star, they were full of joy!

They entered the house and saw the child with his mother, Mary, and bowed and venerated him. Then they opened their chests and gave him gold, frankincense and myrrh. When it was time to leave, they returned to their country by another road, since God had warned them in a dream not to return to Herod.

After the wise men left, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. "Get up! Flee to Egypt with the baby and his mother, "said the angel. "Stay there until I tell you to come back, because Herod will look for the boy to kill him." That night Joseph left for Egypt with the baby and Mary, his mother, and remained there until the death of Herod. This satisfied what the Lord had said through the prophet: "I called my Son out of Egypt." Herod was angry when he realized that the wise men had passed him. He sent soldiers to kill all the boys of Bethlehem and the surrounding area who were two years old or less, according to the report of the wise men on the first appearance of the star. Herod's brutal action fulfilled what God had said through the prophet Jeremiah:

“A cry was heard in Ramah: tears and great mourning. Rachel cries for her children, refusing to be comforted because they are dead. "

Upon Herod's death, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in Egypt in a dream. "Get up!" Said the angel. "Bring the boy and his mother back to the land of Israel, because those who were trying to kill the boy died." So Joseph got up and returned to the land of Israel with Jesus and his mother. But when he learned that the new ruler of Judea was Archelaus, the son of Herod, he was afraid to go there. So, after being warned in a dream, he left for the region of Galilee. So the family went to live in a city called Nazareth. This fulfilled what the prophets had said: "It will be called Nazarene." (NLT)

Luke 2: 1-20
At that time the Roman emperor Augustus decreed that a census should be taken throughout the Roman empire. (This was the first census done when Quirinius was governor of Syria.) Everyone returned to their ancestral cities to register for this census. And since Joseph was a descendant of King David, he had to go to Bethlehem in Judea, the ancient home of David. He traveled there from the village of Nazareth in Galilee. He was carrying Mary, her boyfriend, who was obviously pregnant now. And while they were there, the time has come for the birth of her baby.

He gave birth to his first son, a son. He wrapped it comfortably in strips of cloth and laid it in a manger, because there was no accommodation available for them.

That night there were shepherds who stood in nearby fields, guarding their flocks of sheep. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them and the splendor of the glory of the Lord surrounded them. They were terrified, but the angel reassured them. "Do not be afraid!" She said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior - yes, the Messiah, the Lord - was born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! And you will recognize it with this sign: you will find a child wrapped comfortably in strips of fabric, lying in a manger. "Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others - the armies of heaven - praising God and saying:" Glory to God in the highest heavens and peace on earth for those with whom God is happy. "

When the angels returned to heaven, the shepherds said to each other: “Let's go to Bethlehem! Let's see what happened, which the Lord told us about. "They hurried to the village and found Maria and Giuseppe. And there was the boy, lying in the manger. After seeing him, the shepherds told everyone what had happened and what the angel had told them about this child. Everyone who listened to the story of the shepherds was amazed, but Mary kept all these things in her heart and thought about it often. The shepherds returned to their flocks, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen. It was just like the angel had told them. (NLT)
