Vicka of Medjugorje: Our Lady tells you how to be happy

FATHER LIVIO: Sometimes I have the impression that humanity is so sick and that the Madonna bends over everyone like the mother over her children, without ever getting tired of caring for them.

VICKA: We look with great concern at physical diseases, but Our Lady looks at those diseases that are inside our heart.

FATHER LIVIO: In your opinion, what are the most serious spiritual diseases that afflict people today?

VICKA: All internal diseases are serious and dangerous, but we do not give them much importance, concerned as we are with our health. When we get up in the morning and stand in front of the mirror, we look at how we are outside, but we don't ask ourselves how we are inside. Instead, we should put ourselves in front of the mirror of our soul and ask ourselves what we need to change in the day. We must interrogate our hearts and understand that we must seek God and ask for his grace to cleanse us from evil and to remove all disturbances and give us that peace which is the most important thing. Many times the Madonna speaks of peace of heart. When we have peace of heart we have everything. We must ask God for this grace to give us peace of heart so that we can also pass it on to others.

FATHER LIVIO: Our Lady says many times that this world is without peace and in a message she says: "You want to build a world without God, for this you are unhappy".

VICKA: Our Lady has invited us many times to pray for peace. Even before the war began here, Our Lady had invited us on several occasions to pray for peace. "With prayer and fasting you can ward off wars too," he repeated in his messages. But we thought of some war in distant places and nobody thought that it could arrive right here in our land. And when the war came, Our Lady did not tell me that it was coming, but I saw it from her face, where there was a suffering of the heart, even though with her smile she gave us hope, strength and courage. We, however, when he invited us to pray for peace, we asked ourselves why and nobody listened and took that message seriously. But she asked our prayers why that war didn't come.

FATHER LIVIO: I thought I understood that when there is no peace inside, it is easy for wars to come outside.

VICKA: But look at Father Livio, that's for sure. Each of us must start with himself. Our Lady wants to tell us that the world is without peace because we seek the things that pass, the material things, which are always at the forefront of our desires. God is put aside and forgotten. But Our Lady told us that as long as God is not in the first place in our homes, the world certainly continues without peace. Then when we do not have peace in the heart, but restlessness and war, then it always goes on like this and each of us is a part of this world without peace.

FATHER LIVIO: Without a doubt Our Lady wants to make our generation understand that without God we will never have peace.

VICKA: This is why Our Lady has come, to tell us that she loves us and that God is with us. He wants us to slowly open the eyes of our heart so that we can discover God and his love.

FATHER LIVIO: What makes an impression today, compared to a few decades ago, is the fact that many people live absolutely without God and without prayer. In many houses we no longer pray, there are no more sacred signs, such as the crucifix or a painting of the Madonna, and often we die without repentance and without hope.

VICKA: Precisely for this reason Our Lady said that God must return among us, in our homes and in our families, so that he is the head of the family. Our Lady recommends that families pray the prayer of the holy rosary together and that parents pray with their children and children with their parents, so that we can go forward united in the love of God.

FATHER LIVIO: Can we then say that in order for God to be present in the family, prayer must be present there?

VICKA: Of course. When each of us begins to pray, God comes to him every day more and responds heartily to all those who pray to him.

FATHER LIVIO: In fact, Our Lady said in a message: "In prayer you will discover God". Have you also had these experiences?

VICKA: But this is an experience that we all have when we pray from the heart. When Our Lady began to teach us to pray, she said that the simplest and most beautiful thing is the prayer of the heart. To explain it he brought the example of a vase of flowers that needs water. “All of you, said Our Lady, have in your homes a vase of flowers in which you pour a few drops of water every day and so the plant grows and blooms. The same thing also happens to your heart. If you feed it every day with some prayer, then it grows like a flower. But when you don't give water to the flower plant, then it dries and dies. This also happens for your heart, when you do not pray. Many times, says Our Lady, when the time comes to pray, you find excuses, saying that you are tired or have other things to do and so postpone until the next day. But in this way you slowly move away from prayer and evil enters your heart. As a flower cannot live without water, says Our Lady, so we cannot live without the grace of God ".
