What does a priest recommend to drive the devil away from home

Father José María Pérez Chaves, priest ofMilitary Archdiocese of Spain, offered through social networks an elementary advice to keep the devil away from home: theuse of holy water.

In his Twitter account, the priest advises to make the sign of the cross “regularly with holy water and to sprinkle it from time to time at home; the devil hates her and will leave you alone ”.

The priest also added that on several occasions he perceived "the nearby presence of the devil and I chased it away through prayer and holy water".

The priest also explained that “the soul that is in grace and who frequently resorts to prayer and the sacraments must not fear Satan, because he is a light that eclipses his power ”.

“Keep the commandments, pray, go to mass, confess, take communion and resort to holy water, and the devil will flee from you. You are soldiers of Christ and you need to train every day against the enemy, because you never know when he will attack you. Courage! ”, Concluded the priest.

I sacramentals they are sacred signs that we obtain through the intercession of the Church, which have spiritual effects, predispose us to receive the sacraments and serve to sanctify various circumstances of life. (CIC 1667)

Father Gabriele Amorth, a well-known exorcist, tells about the different sacramentals and how each can be used to fight the devil. The best and most effective thing against any demonic action - as Father José María explained in his tweet - is to live in grace. If we are close to Christ and have recourse to the sacraments, God lives in us.

When the water is blessed, Father Amorth comments, the Lord is asked that its sprinkling generate the defense against the evils of the evil one and the gift of divine protection.

If water is also exorcised, that is, the prayer of exorcism is applied to it, other effects are added such as driving out all the powers of the devil in order to eradicate and expel it. Furthermore, it increases divine grace, protects homes and all places where the faithful dwell against any demonic influence.
